I reckon Arnie is going to be a different gravy next season. I thought that Arnie struggled at times over the first half of the season, drifted in and out of games and was hit and miss whenever he got the ball in good positions, but since the Manure game, he has been class. almost all of our best football has come through him. He tore villa apart, likewise against West Ham, must have put in at least 6 or 7 superb crosses in the Toon game and tore fulham to shreds last weekend. I think Sparky might have unearthed a real gem here.

I think he'll be gone in Jan, in all honesty.

I think Sparky might have unearthed a real gem here. Hughes and many people new of his talents, it's Arnies attitude that has let him down in the past, but without that attitude, he would not be a Stoke player. Arnie would be at one of Europe's top sides, with a price tag way beyond Coates pockets

I think we'll get another season out of him and there'll be spells where he's unstoppable and spells where he's incredibly frustrating - that's the kind of player he is. It's important we don't heap too much pressure and expectation on him and have a bit of patience and let him do what he does best.

He has the ability to impress and frustrate, sometimes even in the same passage of play. I hope he stays another couple of seasons, but be prepared for the roller coaster.

If his attitude & performances stay as they are he wont be here in Jan, I think a few clubs will have him on there radar. If he does go i reckon it will be near or just over 10 mil.

I may have dreamt it but was it not rumoured Arsne Wenger tipped Hugh's off about Arnie and his potential, if true he could be Arsenal bound if Wenger was trialing him in the prem via Stoke to see if he could hack it

On a side note, I don't think Hughes holds the same apprehension most Stoke fans do that we are not worthy enough of such a calibre of player, we are among the elite now no?

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. Expand? People saying after another half a season hes suddenly going be worth 10 mil, don't get me wrong I think after he settled down hes done brilliantly but he's still got to prove longevity before double figure bids will be coming in, just my opinion mind.

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. Cmon mate, there is a bloody good reason why Mourinho wanted him & at the end of it, it was only his attitude that let him down.

It'll either be next summer or the January after next. His attitude problems are well known and I reckon it will take longer than one season to 'correct it' in the eyes of potential buyers, even though we know what we know already.
I agree with the fee in excess of 10M when he goes.
If Hughes turned Bentley into a 15M+ player then a player of Marko's ability really is up in the sky.

I still can see him going for double figures, look at the wingers at some of the top clubs like United, Spurs even Arsenal, there isn't many id choose in front of him.

I think we should just not get carried away. At his best he's amazing but he's temperamental and is going to have spells where he's not performing and we have to accept that rather than buying into him instantly being a Ballon D'or candidate.

No I agree, I'm saying If he has a season like the way he has finished this one & his attitude keeps improving, there is no doubt that he will go for quite big money. Lets be honest if he wasn't temperamental he wouldn't be at Stoke.

I just think we should be a bit cautious about building him up too much.

A bit cautious because it will break a lot of hearts to know that our "next level" involves basically selling our best players soon as... upsets me a bit to think that will be our future really..

Yeah and because he's going to have troughs as well as peaks like most moody but brilliant attacking players.

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves. I agree, as good as Arnie is and he is good there is a lot of better players out there than Arnie in his position, also younger with more potential. I think that we have been starved of a player with his skill and technique in midfield for some time and consequently we over rate him. Controversial maybe but also true. He is an attention seeker no doubt about it. That is why he is always last of the pitch and milks what he can get of the crowd. Fair play to him for that, it helps you get noticed. He has many attributes such as he can bring a ball down with complete ease, he can pick out a cracking pass and more importantly he can find the back of the net. But as said before he can also get lost in a game and drops his head to often.

But that's the reality of having top class players, they will move on. ManU and Arsenal have lost/had to sell numerous world class players and Spurs lost the best British player last summer. The reality is a manager has to get the best out of what he's got while he's got them and always have a succession plan for every player as they may be lost to the another club, lose form, or get injured/ill, etc. Arnie is exciting, brilliant on the ball, and a game changer, but not yet the finished product. His shooting is very average and his centering could be better.

If he plays most of next season how he's played the last few games and keeps his nose clean then I reckon we will struggle to hold on to him.
