Surely that spells doom for next season, that's a lot of players to release at once

Some key players as well. Ridgwell, Jones, Brunt, Amaltifano. Hopefully Mel brings in some of his Spanish mates to replace them and they don't really fit.

I'd take Yakob or Mulumbu, after that they're pretty average.

Great to see so many of our rivals in poor condition.
WBA, Villa, Swansea, hopefully Sunderland now Poyet has a whole summer to really mess them up.
With three average sides coming up you'd hope we can put relegation fears to bed early.

But the season we begin feeling immune to the threat of relegation is probably the one where we get relegated!!

Yes, he has a contract until the end of next season, but there is a break clause, for him and the club, this summer. So they may be looking for another manager as well as most of a squad too!

I just don't see how a club can let themselves get into a situation like this where almost half a squad is out of contract

So they may be looking for another manager as well as most of a squad too! Could be another interesting pre season for the managerial roundabout. Its not inconceivable to think that Spurs, Man Utd, West Brom, Swansea, Newcastle, and Villa could all be looking for new managers. The newspapers suggested that Poyet was on his way even if Sunderland stayed up the other week, and there's been talk of Pulis not getting on with the palace hierarchy ever since he got there, so you could potentially add those two to the list as well. I'd imagine Big Sam is safe isn't he?

Was discussing West Brom last night. They have several players that I would have been very happy to sign a couple of seasons ago but doubt those same players would improve us now. I like/respect such players as Brunt and Morrison but no longer think we need them. I think things will get very interesting at The Hawthorns this summer.

I think Billy Jones is solid fullback at this level and would be a good signing. Injuries this season have been an issue though so might be a risk.

A top ten target I'd take 9th place now if it was on offer. I'd like to see exciting football, more goals (let's get into the top ten goal scorers) and good cup runs. The greatest achievement MH can bring to the Potters is to win the FA Cup. As well as other clubs facing player upheaval, Hull will have the distraction of Europe and they league form could suffer.

True, ref Hull mate but, if they qualify by way of being losing FA Cup Finalists they will have to play in the 'qualifying' round as we did. They may well be out before it even gets going.

There's a few players who have extra one year deals in the clubs favour so they're not technically out of contract.
The only players that are out of contract this season are our loans players, Billy Jones, Graham Dorrans, Steven Reid and Zoltan Gera.
Reid and Gera were always going to be on their way out this season and should really have gone last summer.
