Underwhelming link really, but surely just paper talk at this stage, with the club just putting together its long list of intended targets.

All very balanced and out of 6 pages nobody slaughters him but according the Oatcake few he's shit and not wanted here Hmmm......I'm not sure what or who they are expecting us to sign or how much money is available to Hughes I'd also love to see Colback in a Stoke shirt as he's an excellent player with age on his side

The concern I have with him signing is I'm not sure where he would fit into a Mark Hughes side. Its all well and good saying that he's a decent squad player to have on a free, but when you look at the clubs he's allegedly turning down, then you can rest assured that we're throwing some VERY good money at him. That aside, if he signs, he'll get every bit of support that every other player has had from me, and an admission that I was wrong if he does well. I'm sure a few opinions on an internet message board won't have any sort of impact on the transfer itself, his performance, and the support he gets at the ground. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to get "Fuck off Seb" printed on my plain white t-shirt ready for the first pre season friendly

I can't quite believe what I'm reading on the Sunderland forum thread about the rumor. For example - "Stoke are hardly a step up - more a side step" and "why would anyone choose Stoke in preference to SAFC?"
Unbelievable

For example - "Stoke are hardly a step up - more a side step" and "why would anyone choose Stoke in preference to SAFC?" Unbelievable Yeh, after all we've only finished ABOVE them in all but one of the past 6 seasons (the exception being them overtaking us on the last day of the season). We have consistently out-performed them season after season, been to an FA Cup Final and reached the knock-out stages of the Europa League. This season we will finish way above them AGAIN. Sideways move??????????? Dream on idiots.

For example - "Stoke are hardly a step up - more a side step" and "why would anyone choose Stoke in preference to SAFC?" Unbelievable Stoke "secret weapon" next season could be the continued false reputation of Stoke, which could lead a number of clubs to under estimate Stoke as a worthy opponent. It suits me if Wenger continues to call Stoke lucky or rugby team, if MOTD etc. continue to under expose Stoke, and the deluded press continue to write Stoke off. Most opponents know they are in for a hard time at the Brit.; we want them to continue to think Stoke are an easy game on their own turf, and give them a surprise. Regarding the Larsson rumour, I guess we will have to put up with hundreds of these for the next 5 months as the press seek "news", agents try to up the anti, clubs spread false rumours to divert attention from their real targets, etc.

Like they know better than the manager! Yeh right.

Probably best for everyone on here to not talk about a potential signing ever again then eh? I don't doubt that Hughes has a plan for Larsson (if he is actually in for him) it's just I don't see what it might be at this particular time. That's my opinion, and based on his signings so far, Hughes will more than likely prove me wrong

I think it's more based on the consensus that we don't need a lot adding to what we have and what we do need is glaringly obvious. One thing I have liked about reading/posting on here since Mark Hughes became manager and we broke through the dinosaur barrier, is that in general, the club & fans both seem to recognise what we've got and what we need to improve. It's not very often that happens, remember.

If you look a it logically, we are not blessed with depth in the squad. Even a 1 out 1 in scenario as it stands would see Ethers out, Larsson in, which on the face of it to me is not too bad considering its a free transfer, also if Palacios were to go, and who knows maybe Adam wants to leave after a lack of games towards the end of the season. Then you consider he would be a more viable right back option to Wilko or Shotton in may opinion.

Could he be our new right back? Dammit Bayern just when I think I know more about Football than you do you reach back and pull out one of these gems. As a right back this is a great idea.

Managers know 'their' system they want to play next season. Do you? I'm an expert on Football Manager me. I just keep clicking buttons and I get Nuneaton from the non league to Premier League champions in 6 seasons. I have never signed Seb Larsson once.

Why couldn't them cunts have gone down? I was devastated when they beat ManUre but then I thought wait a minute they can still go down! Would be even more devastating if it happened now, fingers crossed. Is RTG an acronym for "bunch of c@nts"?

You gotta love that board. Year after year, relegation battle after relegation battle, humiliation after humiliation they still look down their noses at virtually every other club in the league.

ChronicleStoke are understood to have had a bid for Larsson rejected in January and are keen to rekindle their interest, although Larsson says as yet he has taken no decision on his future.
Asked by the Swedish press about his situation, he said: “Good question, I have no answer to that question.
“The contract expires. There are no decisions made about the future.
“But of course it is the case that when a contract expires, there is a chance to play football elsewhere when no new contract is forthcoming.
“I’ve learned that you should not let emotions take over too much. You must do as much as possible, get safe this season and then sit down in the summer and take a decision.”

Like I said, Id like him at Stoke but if he was to try and play us off against other sides (probably most notably would be West Ham and a couple of the promoted teams) then Id walk away as surely we are in a better position this summer without being fucked about by players looking for more cash. if he wants to join then great, if he is looking for the best deal which would be the most likely situation then I would bother competing for him as there is better players about.

Hope not but it seems to me that we are subject to this type of game playing from agents and players fairly regularly.

As an "established " prem player he won't come cheap. Now that we are casting our net much further you'd have to think there was better value out there.
