No international caps ..does that make him viable to transfer?

No international caps ..does that make him viable to transfer? He could have a second (EU - possibly Portuguese) passport which would get round the problem.

Not much on Sidnei's recent CV that indicates he'd come in and add to us (if there is anything in it) On loan at Espanyol and only started 11 games (dunno if he's been injured) after being surplus to requirements at Benfica. Currently on the bench for Espanyol v Almeria

He must have some promise having been at a couple of massive clubs there. also, can he play right back?

I read now we are close to sign Peter Skapetis from QPR. Is he good? Club career Queens Park Rangers Peter arrived from South Melbourne FC in January 2012, signing an 18 month contract at the QPR Centre of Excellence as a First Year Scholar. The frontman topped the Under-18s scoring charts with 15 goals from 22 games in 2012/13, proving the match-winner in the QPR U18's play-off final win at Loftus Road by scoring a penalty. Skapetis replicated his form with the Elite Development Squad, averaging a goal every game before penning professional terms with a one-year deal in May 2013. International career Skapetis was the 15th of August 2013 called up for Australia's Under-20 squad in the COTIF International Tournament 2013. He came off the bench and scored twice for the Aussies in a 3-1 victory against Saudi Arabia. He featured in the next game of the tournament against Spain, and scored twice yet again, but his two goals didn't count for much as the Spaniards scored three, to make it 3-2. Style of play Skapetis plays as a striker, and head of youth development at QPR, Steve Gallen, described Peter as “quick, bright, lively and he likes to score goals”. Peter himself said in an interview that he considers himself to be "strong, quick and skillful". He also added he thought of his style of play to be much similar to his idol, Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero.

Don't know if this helps, but I heard that the Brazilian defender is a player who is currently on loan at Espanyol. As someone mentions above, this kiddie then? He's playing today for Espanyol... he's sub

Maybe a prospect to sign and then loan for a few months if needbe

Never even clicked when the thread appeared on Saturday, but SL&P said we had a Brazilian on trial with the first team a few weeks ago. Fair play. I'm sure FullerMagic will have his name by the end of the day too

Price tag is significant - shows how much our transfer 'team' are going to have to be on top of their game this summer !

Price tag is significant - shows how much our transfer 'team' are going to have to be on top of their game this summer ! I suppose it continues the argument about whether Cartwright earns his crust. I assume he has been involved in this deal and if the lad goes on to be a super star then Cartwright will have justified his both his salary and pizza consumption.

Price tag is significant - shows how much our transfer 'team' are going to have to be on top of their game this summer ! I'm sure decent money will be available for the main areas that need strengthening, we are not going to spend big money on an area where we have already got decent first choice options.

Hopefully we've another Muni on our hands. Says hell probably be loaned out though

Not a chance it would be Luisao. Sidnei sounds like the guy. All though his CV isn't up to much, he could be a decent signing, in the same vain as Muniesa. These are the types of players and signings we watched other clubs make and then wonder 'Where were Stoke?' I'm jut glad we appear to be trying to do early business!

I doubt it is sidnei. It says in the article he'll join up in preseason before possibly going out on loan. Would we really trial a 25 year old and send him on loan?

'The new man,who has spent much of his life in central Europe'
not someone from Portugal then?
& sounds like we have agreed to sign him for £400k
what is classed as young then - 21?

Sounds like it'll be some young kiddie who's been playing off the beaten track in somewhere like Hungary or the Czech Republic. Given the age and cost hinted at, doubt anyone's going to have heard of him?
Presumably he's got an EU passport though - or we wouldn't touch him with a barge pole?

Yes, until our Academy starts producing a stream of Southampton style starlets, the ONLY way forward for a club like ours is to try to buy cheaply a few hidden gems who will appreciate in value, alongside the occasional multi £million player.
