Who put the C into music... Country music; a much maligned art form, I love a bit of Country: Johnny Cash, and the Carter clan, Glen Campbell even Bobbie Gentry.. but I'm a massive fan of Jeannie C. Riley..
I can't abide Hank Williams though.

Great performer, Jeannie C. Riley, would have loved to have caught her at the Grand Ol' Opry....

That don't sound very Country to me Craig, it was a pretty lame tune back in th'80's when the Dream Academy or whoever did it.. I think you're confusing cowboy hats with proper Country music mate... Each to their own but that was just shite in my {not so humble} opinion. Thanks for coming though.
But if it's line dancing you want check this out...

It topped the Country charts in the US and the video was from the Country Music Awards,so you can't get more country than that. But hey each to their own.

Interesting character, Bobbie. Had her own production company and bought into a baseball team in the 60's. Some great duets with Glen Campbell too, but this is a fave.

Putting a bit of cool back into Country. Gram & Emmylou Beautiful stuff. Emmylou's vocals are just exquisite as ever. They say there are only 2 types of people. Those in love with Emmylou and those that haven't met her yet!

I have come to quite enjoy cowboy music from another era: Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers, Hank Williams, etc.. I even like their more modern equivalents, like Kevin McNiven. Conner go wrong with a bit of yodelling.
I must qualify this with an emphasis on 'quite enjoy'. It doesn't mean I'm a massive fan or anything, it's just another tranche in my rather eclectic tastes in music.
