Watched a fantastic documentary on Slade today. Bloody brilliant in fact.
Jim Lea is totally fantastic in this BBC4 noggin.
What a band, still the best of mates. Nowt like the Pink Floyd arseholes of architecture. Go with your heart. Slade are the best, with more hit singles than I care to remember, the best British band of all time? Strong contenders i'd say.

Slade in flame is one of my favourite 70s films. It's got a bleak, cynical, almost kitchen sink-esque atmosphere about it. It's said that the film ended their career as chart toppers, as it was so at odds with their teeny bopper, sing-along image. Also features our own Alan Lake. Now he's worth a thread on his own. Fascinating times.

Goodbye To Jane, my favourite Slade track.
What a PUNCHY vocal, almost enough to make you forgive Noddy Holder for being a massive Wolves fan.
I too saw them in the 80's among the faithful, a sweat, surging mass of humanity!

Some people will use any excuse to have a go at Pink Floyd, (especially the know it all cunts) Early Syd Barrett stuff beats owt IMHO.

I saw a story the other that reckoned Noddy Holder was close to taking over AC/DC singing after Bon Scott died. Slade are good fun but I prefer Floyd.

I wasn't a big fan even though they were locals for me growing up, but Jimmy Lea trod on my foot in the 4 C's club, Penkridge. Circa 1980 He apologised, so that's all right then
