Our stadium has the only intimidation I care about, when a team comes here they don't expect to walk away with 3 points. Now that has NOTHING to do with a few bloody flags

As a Season Ticket holder who attend games with a variety of other Season Ticket holders we have felt for a while that the ground could have minor changes that would help improve the matchday experience. A key part of this concerns the look of the stadium. If you go to Anfield, and inside the stadium, you notice straight away that Liverpool FC have a lot of flags, banners, logo's attached to the stadium (inside & outside) making it look far more intimidating. It's fair to say that ours looks fairly plain and boring and small changes like this will have a positive affect on SCFC fans. It wouldn't be expensive to do and would make the stadium look a lot more homely. It badly needs a clean inside and the introduction of more flags, banners etc would cover up such isses. Surely others have thought the same? There is no doubt that the Brit needs moree than a little sprucing up !

There were some fantastic flags that appeared during our Europa league adventure especially in Valencia.
I would like to see those adorning the perspex section at the top of the Boothen, Sentinel and South Stands.
Stoke flags created by Stoke supporters. No gimmicks
It wouldn't make it more intimidating but it would enhance the look of the stadium once inside.

Let's put netting up around the away fans and turn it into an enclosure, with just a gap at the top and a catapult on top of the offices so we can fling in piles of human excrement every time they get too rowdy. [May be an Health and Safety issue here, not sure the office roof would take the weight of a catapult.]

how do flags intimidate people? Plenty of scary movies where the killer ends up being a flag

The first thing the club should be doing (and it should have been done years ago) is switching the opposition and home fans in the South Stand. I just can't believe they haven't done it already, Delap himself said it on Radio Stoke not long ago, literally handing the opposition an advantage before KO. I don't buy into this. Our home record is excellent, how is it an advantage? Similarly, lots of clubs this season who shove the away fans up a corner have poor home records... (Sunderland, Man Utd, Newcastle to name just 3)

It also allows opposition fans to get at the referee at half time following any debatable decision. It just makes no sense to keep them there. Are you trying to suggest that those 3 clubs would actually have a better home record if away fans were positioned directly next to the tunnel?

If anything, I think the moodier and bland the ground, the more intimidating. Home made banners by the fans are good but my preference would be loads of concrete, poor facilities in the away concourse and away dressing room and as much bad weather as possible! Couple that with the Brit in full voice and you can't go wrong. You want the opposing fans and players to be counting down the minutes until they can escape from the place. Think of Napoli's Stadio San Paolo and their fans, superb (besides the violence of course!). Spot on.

No, I'm saying that using your logic those clubs SHOULD have better home records (assuming keeping the fans up a corner gives the home team an advantage, which you suggest it does). I'm saying I don't think it makes a jot of difference to what happens in 90 minutes where the away fans are in relation to the tunnel.

I'm saying I don't think it makes a jot of difference to what happens in 90 minutes where the away fans are in relation to the tunnel. You could argue that their home records could be worse if they weren't placed next to the tunnel then in that case. I'm not suggesting for one minute that it will transform results rather it can only harm the atmosphere that the players experience, and at least two ex-players have come out and said this. It's something that would take minimal effort.

1. Fill in the corners 2. Move the away fans (better still move the tunnel to the centre of the main stand or to the Boothen End) 3. Move back to The Vic..not necessarily because the ground itself was intimidating but having plenty of boozers on your doorstep and a load of terraced houses round the ground certainly helped to spice things up a bit!
If I had Coates' money I would move back to The Vic tomorrow...piled foundations cost sod all these days!

I would change where the away fans sit. I would put them where the family stand is now because when the players walk out the first thing they see is the away fans. If away teams were walking out to hostile home fans it would certainly make things a little more intimidating.

The recent meeting minutes of the supporters council suggest this is going to be resurfacing next year, although possibly in an altered form. Green tarmac I've heard. With a diagonal stripe (a la new away shirt ?). Great news. P.s Bears are expensive; maybe rats instead ?
