Hellu! I know. We are almost certainly staying up. But, theoretically Sunderland have games in hand and can pass us in the table. So I haven't bought the cake yet. Question: can we get that important point vs Cardiff on Saturday to avoid relegation? fingers and pen and a waiting toothpaste//:musik

Musik you are wrong. Swansea and Sunderland have to play one another and Swansea's defeat yesterday means that they and Sunderland cannot both over take us. If their game is a draw, neither of them can overtake us. If one team wins then the other team cannot overtake us. So we are now, mathematically, safe!I think this is the earliest this has happened since promotion.

Beat the sheep shaggers anyway and go unbeaten till the new season, that has to be our aim so we can finish as high as possible with our highest points tally and best goal tally since we were promoted, we can then push on next season and aim for an even better position. Oh and Cardiff are the only team we've not beaten in this league (premiership). Gouranga.

If Swansea had nicked a point yesterday we would still be mathematically at risk for relegation. But it would have taken a pretty unlikely set of circumstances to see us down. The following wins would have had to occur. Sunderland @ Man City Cardiff v Stoke Swansea @ Newcastle Sunderland @ Chelsea Norwich v Liverpool West Brom @ Man City Tottenham @ Stoke Swansea v Villa Norwich @ Man United Suncerland v Cardiff Sunderland @ Man United Fulham @ Stoke Swansea v Soton Norwich @ Chelsea Sunderland v West Brom Norwich v Arsenal Sunderland v Swansea West Brom v Stoke Then these teams would also have to collect some points from the remaining games as follows (games between these teams shown in blue) West Brom 7 points from v West Ham@ Arsenal @ Man City Villa 9 points from v Soton v Hull@ Man City @tottenham Hull 7 points from v Arsenal @ Fulham @ Villa@ Man United v Everton Palace 6 points from @ Arsenal @ West Hamv Man City v Liverpool @ Fulham West Ham 6 points from arsenalv Palace @ West Bromv Tottenham @ Man City Even then we would have to ship an extra five goals to get below Sunderland on GD (meaning over and above one-nils for each result).

Last night I dreamt we were playing European League football again. Arnautovic had a great game and the opponents wore yellow shirts. Villareal perhaps? I wonder what year it could be.
