Would rather Mannone if Begovic goes and we are looking for a cheaper option.
I doubt he would want to stay at Sunderland, so could be a viable alternative. Everytime I have seen him play he has done well.

Definitely a step down from Bego Probably on a par with Butland's current level to be honest so should provide decent enough competition. I remember him as a bit of a flapper, and Arsenal generally arent the strongest in the goalkeeping department. But I would be reasonably happy I guess if we get him on a free as well

As a free transfer as back-up for Jack, as new number one, he may be worth a look. Remember that we are not sure that Sorensen will stay either, so even with Jack returning, we may be an experienced keeper short.

But I would be reasonably happy I guess if we get him on a free as well confused at this really..... if we are to sell Bego then whoever we bring in will be a step down unless you think we can land someone like Neuer? and considering Fabianski has just turned down a £50,000 a week offer to extend his contract at Arsenal then i think there's no realistic chance of us getting him anyway...somehow can't see PC giving any player £60-80k a week if it's a free transfer or not! add to that the fact that apparently Seville, Schalke and Valencia are all interested in him then i think it will be a case of him preferring the Prem ideally but if his best options are teams like us or Newcastle (who would be ahead of us anyway as they'd be more likely to match his wage demands) then he'll go the continent. this is just a case of "Bego is probably off.....Fabianski rejected new contract offer = chance of an article"

This is a story made up by Ladbrokes to get people to bet on it. They are about as accurate as Sports Direct news

Why would Butland want to stay if we signed another keeper?. Bego was given a chance when he was Butland's age and thrived. Butland should be given the same opportunity.

I hope Sorro stays and plays the Carlo Nash no.3 role.

Assuming soro leaves which is a definite chance, you'd rather we only had a number 1 with dale eve as back up? I'm expecting a signing to be honest, just one who provides compo for butland rather than coming in straight as number 1.

Butland should be given the same opportunity. apart from a few games here and there, Bego didn't really get a chance until he was 23 with us (a couple of years older than Butland is) but i do agree with the first bit. Butland specifically came here to play games and turned down 2 far bigger clubs because he didn't want to just be on the bench. if we sign a more experienced keeper and either sit Butland on the bench or loan him out to a lower level side (again!!!) then he'll be off very soon. he's better than that..if Bego goes then Butland number 1 for me! he's got massive promise and will only ever realise that when he starts playing regular Prem football, just shoving him in the Championship on loan year after year won't progress him and we will end up losing him entirely.

I can see the logic here- he'd probably start as understudy to Butland, but he's probably good enough to step in if Jack turns out to be cack.
On a free as well, so we get to spend the anticipated Bego cash on other areas of the team. The question is whether he'd want to come if he thinks he might have a fight for the #1 jersey.

Anyone will be a step down from Bego, but this lad's not a bad keeper.
It's a bit concerning though that he's only averaged just over 10 games per season over the last 7 seasons.
Given the choice, I'd prefer Pantilimon from Man City.

I've always assumed Butland was signed to replace Begovic when a decent offer came in for him. I don't think Fabianski would want to come here and sit on the bench because he's at the stage in his career where he needs to be playing regularly. It wouldn't be a bad idea for us to go for someone like Friedel or Schwarzer in the short term.

No excited about this in the slightest. Bego is a game changer. Although if pressed, I'd rather have Butland become #1 with flappyboy behind him that sounds better.

Remember that we are not sure that Sorensen will stay either, so even with Jack returning, we may be an experienced keeper short. The reported reason why Fabianski wants to leave Arsenal is a bid for first team football. In this case he's hardly likely to want to be Butland's No2 at Stoke is he? Anyway there's absolutely no basis at all (except from a Ladbrokes 'source'!) that we are even remotely interested in Fabianski.

If anyone thinks Jack Butland will come in and play at the required level for 38 games is delusional. In terms of a keepers age he is neonatal. Whether he thinks he is good enough or not he needs to be eased into the team. When Beggers came he was no where near the level he is now. If he leaves in The Summer we need an experienced top keeper.

Asmirs good friend says there is no way he is going to a Spanish club if he cannot be guaranteed No 1. He told me that he is happy at Stoke and is going nowhere unless the club says so!"

If and when Asmir does decide to move on then surely Jack Butland must be promoted to the new number one otherwise why else did he come here?

IF Begovic leaves us, there's another Bosnian!
I think I mentioned him before - Jakupovic? He was actually on the bench for Hull last week against us. I don't know why though because he is immense IMO but, what do I know, eh?

who ever comes in is not going to be of Begovich ability. That does make me wonder wether our next keeper will be on hiding to nothing. He is going to have a massively difficult act to follow. With us being so used to having such a top keeper, i wonder wether our next keeper will be cut very little slack for mistakes. A couple of dodgy games and he could be the scapegoat. I imagine we will hear, Bego would of saved that, going round alot down the Brit next season.
