It was like swapping an Aston Martin for a knackered pushbike, or being binned by Subo and finding yourself living with Kylie One of the best bits of transfer business we've ever done. Edit - "Stoke is probably a better fit for me in a football sense. We play the ball to feet more, which is great for me.” If someone had told me 12 months ago that a player would soon be saying this about us I'd have thought they were chicken oriental. Absolutely fucking wonderful.

Good read that. KJ may still come good for Cardiff, but I doubt it.

"which would have suited Odemwingie and in turn benefitted Cardiff, rather than a relegation rival."
Excuse me? 'Relegation rival'.
Fuck off.

It's a continuing tale of one club laughing while the other worries. Jones cost us £8 million which is a high price tag for a player who had a very good first season for us but then, for one reason or an other, he struggled and was quite frankly bloody awful/criminally disinterested more often than not.
Was he worth that £8m for the 10/11 season? It was 8 wasn't it? I dunno, all in the past now i guess and i can't see him getting back to his Sunderland form any time soon.

To be fair, we were only 3 points off the relegation zone at the end of January and only 4 ahead of Cardiff. We were very much a relegation rival/candidate at the time. stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/tojan.html EDIT: For some reason Link won't work, so you'll have to just copy and paste into address bar in your browser!

Hindsight is 20/20 though with these reports. Odemwingie looks good for Stoke because as he says, he likes the ball into his feet. He's not going to win balls in the air, and that is what he was expected to do at Cardiff. If they could actually get Jones to stop being a lazy fuckwit, he might actually be useful for them...
Perhaps contracts need to come with a "If you're fucking lazy" clause.

Doubt we got out of 2m just by swapping him half a season before his contract expired, and I doubt Cardiff would have agreed to cover that cost either.

I agree that we were near the bottom of the table, however the previous 5 seasons would show that realistically we are not a candidate for relegation. Yeah yeah I know the bookies odds and a change in manager changed that but still, I never considered us as a relegation rival.

Had a conversation with a Cardiff fan on another board. They asked if we would like to take Jones back any time soon.

There were plenty of people on here advocating that Jones should play instead of Crouch, and that jones for odem was a big mistake.
Christ knows what they thought they saw in the lazy, arrogant waste of space.
Just wondering when any of them are going to hold their hands up ?

Anyone know how long a deal Jones is on at Cardiff? 2.5 years or 3.5 years? Could be very expensive if/when they get relegated unless it contains a relegation clause.

It was best for all parties that Kenwyne moved on mate BUT........he was playing excellent and it would of made more sense to spend £10n on a player to play alongside him rather than on one to replace him ? All water under the bridge now but that's my take on it

We definitely were. Only a few weeks a go we couldn't buy a goal and were anxiously pinning our hopes on the likes of Walters. Look how Crouch has been transformed by Wingie and a committed Ireland.
