A good read rob again , but a tad on the negative side I have to say !
Hull we're very well organised ( probably more so than any other team I've seen at the Brit this season ) it's extremly hard to break down those teams ( ask Chelsea ) and on the whole we probed and played the majority of the football !
It was a different game for arnie , the space wasn't there but he worked tirelessly for the team , another sign that there are more sides to arnie and he's getting to grips with what's expected of him , an unspectacular performance by him but one just as pleasing IMO !

A bit harsh on Arnie perhaps given that he has been the main threat in the last 2, Hull did well to keep him quiet.
But other than that spot on.
Well done

Just a note. From what I've seen of Peter Odemwingie, there's a lot left in his tank IMHO. He still has pace and also quite a lot of skill, and I have been really impressed with him. As I say, plenty left in his tank, and a brilliant bit of business for Stoke. What is very impressive though is his ability to finish.

I agree with most of that, but I thought Arnie did okay. At one point, Hull had two men on Arnautovic. They saw him as a threat and did what they could to stop him.

Slightly ambivalent write up, and that was exactly how I felt about the game. In fact I switched off at half time and went to bed (+7 hours). We've been treated to a fantastic March in the Prem and win or lose I was happy either way.
But I woke up to a fantastic 3 points.
Christ, how we struggled on 31 points for weeks this time last year.

Well written as ever RVD. Agree with pretty much everything, except I do think the evaluation of Arnie is slightly critical, but alas, everything else is spot on.
Also, I was not aware of out terrible record without Begovic in net. Granted, those games include the horror show by Twatkinson and the game vs. an impressive Liverpool side, but still, that does not bode well for next season.
Hopefully Butland can step up to the plate, or as you state, we manage to keep Begovic, which is very very unlikely.
I am not privy to any transfer information usually, but I do know that the deal to see Begovic depart to Man City was agreed for last summer, only to be derailed when Mancini got the boot. I doubt a move back to City would be on the cards, however a move abroad is becoming increasingly likely in my eyes.

Good analysis again Rob. I thought he'd start with Charlie for his passing and sheer ability to "make something happen". I would have given him the first hour, tried to get in front, then brought Ireland on from the bench to move the ball quicker through midfield as Hull began to chase the game.
Agree about Wingy. As confident as Beattie, but maybe a better striker of the ball. I thought the ball had gone too wide for the 3rd v the Hammers but what a clean hit that was. Great technique.

I agree with all that's written (remember I said "after the Lord Mayor's show" first on Saturday) but would add:
Stoke had most of the possession; granted they didn't use it well. Stoke had most shots at goal; granted no more than Hull's were on target and Hull's needed better saves. Stoke had loads more corners; granted none of them threatened much, in fact some were plain wasted - Adam needed me thinks.

Good write up, Rob; as ever, thanks for putting the effort in We're a long way from consistently unlocking teams that defend the way Dull did. However, we didn't seem to want to help ourselves; fixated with playing the ball through the middle, rather than trying to get around the sides and behind. As you've put, if we were going to do that successfully, Charlie would have been a better option than Stevie, I think. Once more a small stroke of luck helps get us the points. I know you make you're own - and all that - but I do think Hughesy seems to be good at cobbling-it-together. Several times this season, something has dropped for us (hand balls not given, hand balls given, cr4p back passes, defensive blunders ...) where it might not otherwise have done. While wingy had to do well to anticipate it (and well done him) their lad still had to make the schoolboy error in the first place. Never look a gift horse in the mouth; I did not think we would break them down until that error occurred. Then, once Mr Fat Head finally gave us the space, we looked threatening and should probably have added to our total. I thought Bruce was pretty fair in his post-match assessment (and to be fair, so was Hughesy ) - If it had been us at their place, we would have been crying about not getting at least the point we deserved. I think it helps to demonstrate that in football, confidence breeds success like nothing else (the reverse being just as true).
