I've been told for the past however many years that it's not the type of football that is played it's the result. Passing is irrelevant, as is possession. Stoke fans don't want to see open attractive football, we're a working class area and put grit, effort and hard work above anything else. We want it in the 'mixer', get it forward quickly, no fannying about.... Why now the jizz fest over a half decent performance yesterday? Anyone care to shed any light? Surely these folk were just Gloryhunters, on board for the Premiership ride, oh and the FA Cup run and the Europa experience. Once they realised that we can't go to Wembley nor Valencia each year they've moved on. Obviously your avatar sums up your not so subtle 'stuck' agenda. You havn't. It was mint to see a mix of graft and guile yesterday, why try to sour it with point scoring? The biggest waste of virtual ink I've seen on here. Disgraceful.

That's the spirit!!!!!!! Isn't it time you moved on Pugsley old boy? Even Stafford is moving with the times. A new Hughes avatar may be in line......feel the love. Let the pain go. I'll see out the season with this one. Consistency is the key and I'm not one for chopping and changing. Next season will see a new avatar, either one extolling total football or one celebrating Palace's relegation. 'harping on' 'let it go' 'time you moved on' - all coming from the same people who have slaughtered me over the years for wanting more from my club other than soul destroying dross. Figure that one out Poirot. That said it could all go tits up next season and we'll get relegated!!! Shit happens.

One massive thing the capped one never understood but Waddo did, Leslie seems to as well - S-o-T was one of the most creative, craft-based working class areas in Europe, yes we had pits and steelworks but the pots were what made us different and I'd say, still do make us different. People designed and largely handmade beautiful things. That's why the working man's ballet happened here and, never know, might just be happening again now... (But the capped one was still exactly what we needed for the time he was here.) Beautifully put. Stoke is a city of hard and proud people, but above all of artisans and craftsmen (and women).

If you need an explanation as to why people are so happy about yesterday, Pugs old chap, then you need to find a different sport to follow.

I wasn't suggesting for a second you didn't. People who cant get a kick out of that require the help. I always felt the same about people satisfied with what went before it.

What utter tripe. ! that's like the poor man saying he doesn't want any money because it just causes headaches ! Stoke City supporters, like those of any other team want a winning team. We are all giddy right now over our recent success, more so because we hardly ever win than anything else, but it is something I personally would like to see a helluva lot more of !! Winning is a good thing, it cures all ills. We have been playibg better thsi season and it seems that good play is finally coming around to show its one major benefit !! WINNING ! If you are a Stoke fan and claim that yesterday was just a half way decent performance, then yo u don't know football !!

I'm amazed at how many people seem to have missed the sarcasm and attempted irony in Pugsley's initial post.
I am 100% certain that the opening post was mocking Tony Pulis and his love of effort over ability and brawn over brains given that everyone, almost to a man (well Tazi is notable only for his absence on the board since Sunday evening) thorougly enjoyed watching our team play some proper football aimed to win a game from the 1st minute to the last.
The best part about yesterday for me was that at 3-1 up with minutes remaining, our full-back, probably with the full approval of his manager, was bombing forward to score another goal to make it an even more comfortable win. Under the previous manager, he would probably have been fined for crossing the half way line, let alone getting as far as the penalty box.

I think of it as capped Karma.

Enjoy your newfound footballing credentials. Pugsley stop playing with the inbreds.
It’s taken six years and the result of time, effort and money to achieve the ruthless professionalism shown in the last two games.
Strangely Walters/Adams suspension may have sorted a mix that forced the team that has delivered so well.
Don’t get too carried away though – Manager of the month (Sam Feb) = 3 losses since.

Usually you come across as thicker than a tin of Campbell's condensed soup; but that right there, that's some top quality trolling

Quality Pugs...a man of my own heart...you live by the sword...you die by the sword In answer to your question though, I honestly didn't think we would play like that and still get the results from what I saw earlier in the season....especially after we had to go more direct to get out of trouble. I don't think it the Rimmers that are going over the top - just an acknowledgement of very, very good turnaround.

I agree - football is a craft. That doesn't mean decoration for decorations sake but it does mean functional beauty.

Do you mean Pugs or the longtime friend who is telling him these tales?
I believe that Pugs hears 'voices' and that in his nightmares, these voices sound just a little like mcf

Even though you can't stand TP you must agree it was a brave move for him to go there?
