No, I'm agreeing with you. On thank god for that. Was worried about you for a bit There are still plenty of reasons to worry about me...

I miss the days of the cage and having dinosaur players like Shawcross, Whelan and Crouch that were incapable of playing passing football. I laugh at those people that said that Tony held them back. ... And before the usual suspects start throwing bricks, I started the Anyone But Hughes thread on here... Time to move on and let's support him when the going gets tough. Well said, you're a big man to say it. I just hope the faint hearts stick with it when the going gets tough. Not even the greatest ever teams won every match; the unbeatable Leeds United were stopped by Stoke, Villa beat the league leaders one week and get humbled by Stoke the next. Stoke will also have off-days when it all goes wrong.

I don't get the mentality of people who see Stoke put in a fantastic performance and want to go backwards and talk about the former manager instead. I think it's called point scoring. Or being an arse. One of the two anyway. Wrong. It's both.

I don't get the mentality of people who see Stoke put in a fantastic performance and want to go backwards and talk about the former manager instead. Well, put it this way- if we were in the bottom 3 at this point, do you think we wouldn't be ploughing through pages of Charlton Athletic, I Told You We'd Get Relegated and Please Come Back Tone? Do you think the "Axe" threads wouldn't be appearing at the top of the board again with sarcastic comments added from the Rimmers? I wanted Pulis axed- I was desperate for him to go- and so before we have a big group hug and move on, I'm going to fucking gloat my cock off. (only this once though) I'm sure that those threads would exist, and if they did I'd be saying pretty much the same thing. If we were badly in the shit, then pretty much the least constructive thing possible would be to bicker about previous seasons and the sensible thing would be to look at how precisely to get out of the aforementioned shit. Now the trend du jour has been to suggest to anyone who still wants to talk about Tony Pulis goes off to certain places, so I think it would be awfully unfair of me to allow this thread to pass without suggesting that anybody who witnesses Stoke under Mark Hughes annihilate Villa at Villa Park with three Mark Hughes signings (plus Crouch) providing most of the action and prefers to spend their time thinking about Tony Pulis might want to try out one of the following places ready for next season: www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=3/www.cpfc.co.uk/news/article/season-ticket-prices-201415-1323086.aspx

I'm equally impressed at your capacity to lecture others about being hung up on Tony Pulis while having him as your avatar. Well played.

I would imagine that the Crystal Palace message board is full of threads genuinely discussing the things I outlined in the OP, so no, I don't fancy popping over there.
There may even be a campaign starting to persuade Eddie Izzard to wield his axe. I'd like to think so anyway.

As you may have noticed from my very out of date signature, I'm just not very good at being arsed enough to change my profile on here. I might change it back to Ric in the close season, or something like that. I look forward to your ongoing avatar vigilance and gladly anticipating seeing such phrases as 'Greenhoff went to Man Utd, get over it', 'Macari left 17 years ago, get over it', 'we don't play at the Vic any more, get over it' and 'we haven't played in purple zig-zaggy shirts for years, time to move on'.

It would rather depend on whether those same people were busy holding forth on why we actually don't need to discuss the very thing they themselves were featuring prominently

The point scoring is generally flogging a happy horse now though - Hughes and Stoke going well and safe, getting great results. Pulis being Pulis at Palace. Legacy intact. Progression sustained. Everyone happy.

I'm sure we beat Aston Villa on Sunday. Reading some of the threads on here it appears we beat Tony Pulis. Shame some of you are so bitter about Pulis proving you wrong that you can't appreciate what Hughes is actually doing. Pulis took us further than most of us thought possible, now Hughes' job is keep us progressing. Its about Stoke City Football Club not Pulis versus Hughes.

Yes, but this isn't about petty point scoring or weekly tit-for-tat sniper fire- Sunday was the fucking H-Bomb moment of the Rimmers/PHW war. The moment that the Wankstains danced in the streets with flags and welcomed Hughesy and the boys home after eight years of attritional trench warfare. Our victory could only be made better by Pulis being put on trial for war crimes and getting relegated.

Some wonderful posts on this thread.
I don't think I need to lower myself to add to what's already been said...
.....but I'm going to anyway.
I fucking told you all we'd be ok and actually have the chance to fucking push on under Hughes' leadership. You all know nothing. I am the fucking bomb. Long live sexy football and a bucketload of entertainment. Boomshakalak Mother fluffers.
Kind regards,
