Free travel hasn't really increased numbers, and its for that reason alone I say discount tickets.
£39 for Villa away is a bad joke.

Not that clever Stafford, only an ex English electric apprentice, I will have to use my fingers. Feel free if you can do it.

Free travel all day long.
With fuel prices increasing & rail fare the same, it would save us more money than discounted match tickets.

Cheers Chessie, yes Stafford but a long time ago, late 60s early 70s, main works for 1 year and the rest at Castle works.

Free travel hasn't increased the numbers at away games though so clearly those people in the fortunate position to benefit from it are not using it. Discount tickets would benefit all Stokies no matter where they live and should be given a go next season if the funding is still available.

I am there now but I think my dad was there for a short time in the 70's. He left when there wasn't much cash in it and went to the universal.

Discount tickets everytime. Unless you've got kids I really can't see how you can go on the pop and crisps buses.

How about clubs can charge as much as they want but have to give them the full allocation.
The home club are then not allowed to have any blocks back for home fans.
A few weeks of empty blocks should soon convince clubs to stop charging stupid prices

Discount tickets everytime. Unless you've got kids I really can't see how you can go on the pop and crisps buses. Even with kids I wouldn't do the bus. At least in the car you can stop where they want, get there and back quicker and make it a fun day out. Going on the coach you are going for the football alone and watching Stoke is about much more than just the game. Cheaper tickets for me every time. Prices determine away followings not travel costs. If the match ticket is perceived to be cheap, people go.

Free transport hasn't increased away followings, indeed our away support has actually dropped this term and there is a school of thought that this has happened because of the free transport being available - although I'm not certain how sound that argument is.
Many people would never dream of using official coaches under any circumstances but nobody is going to turn their noses up at a discounted ticket.
I'd be tempted to target a handful of specific games and then discount those games very heavily, for example if the match at Villa was priced at £20 this Sunday, then even though it's on the telly I wouldn't be surprised if we took 3,000+, as it is, I bet we'll take not much over half of that.
Discounted tickets for me every time.

It is bloody stupid that admin won't allow polls on the main board. The poll about this on the polls board (link above) has only 8 votes, yet this thread is filling up nicely with comments. The logical thing to do is to have the poll at the top of this thread. But then logic is not the strong point of the Oatie board, sometimes.

The few clubs that do discounted tickets, does anyone know how much they reduce them by?Do they just knock say a tenner off or does it depend on the face value of the ticket?
