Speaking to Sky Sports News in January, Mr Allam said he would walk away "in 24 hours" if the supporters rejected his plans.
"No one on earth is allowed to question my business decisions, I won't allow it," he said.
"I'm here to save the club and manage the club for the benefit of the community - it will never, ever be the other way around - take it from me. But the community can say 'go away' and I will go within 24 hours."

Yet more nuttery from football, and football club owners - puts me in in mind of that Budweiser advert, multi-ball etc Edit: Nuttery from the owner of course, and not from the FA (for a change!!)

If Stoke on Trent became a city now (rather than when it did in the last century) would people be up in arms about changing our name from Stoke to Stoke City?

If Stoke on Trent became a city now (rather than when it did in the last century) would people be up in arms about changing our name from Stoke to Stoke City? That's not quite the same thing in my opinion as I imagine that the towns were glad to become a City back then and Hull is already a City Our name also infers that the club represent each town in the City and not just Stoke? if that makes sense If the club were known as Stoke town before the amalgamation of the 6 towns, would it have been desirable to change from Stoke Town to Stoke City? Quite possibly I would not want our club name to change to the Stoke City Potters or any other version, just a personal point of view. Each club has its history, Hull City is over 100 years old too. The FA are sending out a clear message here, I guess they have a lot of support

I would not want our club name to change to the Stoke City Potters or any other version, just a personal point of view. Isn't that already taken by the Speedway team. Perish the thought, but if a name change was on the cards for us I reckon it'd be more likely to be Stoke City Spitfires.

According to Wiki, Stoke Spitfires is the junior speedway team of Stoke Potters. There's also a Stoke Spitfires competing in the wheelchair basketball league.

I wish people on here would use a little imagination - Sir Peter Coates would surely opt for Stoke saggarmaker's bottom knocker. Be a commentators nightmare wouldn't it?!

There have been a number of club name changes during my time as a football fan;
Orient to Leyton Orient in 1987
Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic to A.F.C. Bournemouth[edit]
I guess there may have been more - so name changes are OK. Unless they are shit ones!

It's just a recommendation from a committee reporting to the full FA, to refuse permission to change at this stage, the actual decision won't take place until next month. If it doesn't go the owners way I can see the Club being put up for sale in summer, rather than him just chucking the toys out and walking away.

If Peter Coates came up with a name that the majority of fans were happy to change to, and had good reason to, then I'd have no problem with us changing our name.
Hull's case clearly doesn't fit that criteria. So their cunt of an owner should be told to shut up and get on with running Hull City, or fuck off out of football.

Apparently, the desire to change the name is a business decision, aimed to increase the club's market share of the emerging Asian markets. Like there's a few million Chinese ready to follow a small club with a shite kit just because they are called tigers? The City suffix hasn't limited Man City's global appeal, nor the United suffix that of their quieter neighbours. I haven't noticed a debate in Liverpool to add Whingeing Scousers to their name, or for a North London club to change their name to Arsenal Hypocrites. He really should drop it; it's a very crap idea.

From where I am standing the FA have never made a good decision and I cant believe they are about to break the mould. Money talks in football and it will do again. Exactly. It's only a recommendation. My money (or rather the Hull owner's money) is on the FA ignoring the recommendation for some sort of technical issue they'd just thought up.
