Just watching Goals on Sunday and it highlighted the ref actually talking to Nolan (well, probably more like just standing up to another verbal barrage from him) but then calling Carroll over specifically to explain to him also.
Great refereeing in my opinion. Seems like the refs have had an instruction this year, and good on the ref for explaining it on the pitch, respectfully, to calm the situation down. The worst thing they can do in that situation is to just tell everybody to go away and keep a 5 year bubble around them.
Needs highlighting by the refs lot as an example for all others to follow.

Pity he didn't afford Glenn the same courtesy.

Hats off to the linesman who made the offside call as well. Brilliant decision

How you can praise a referee that allows West Ham players, two in particular, to continually be in his face showing dissent and just 'talk to them' and not come close to a card then book the first show of dissent from a Stoke players is beyond me.

Let's not forget that he also made one of the worst decisions ever seen in giving a foul against Peter Crouch for the best tackle seen all afternoon.
