Out for 6 to 9 months, surely after having so many injuries since 2010 he should think of retiring.

A genuinely nice guy in a world of overpaid, diving pansies, I can think of a whole list of players I'd rather see this happen to before him. Wishing him well.

My response upon finding it was... Oh it was Man Utd and noted that it was following a challenge by Jonny Evans... Nothing more, just a challenge.

It was rumoured Darren Anderton was going to write him a get well soon card but he suffered a compound fracture to his wrist after he tripped over Owen Hargreaves's career whilst reaching for the pen.

I must confess I have never heard of this fella. What? That's a bit of a shock and sad really. Here is a bloke who had an exceptional period of form with Bolton to the extent that I'd have loved him at Stoke and was heartily glad he didn't line up against us in the semi. A very good player who looks as if his best days may be behind him. I don't recall him playing for ages. Did he actually make a comeback?

From the Guardian 21 March 2011... Holden travelled to London for surgery on Monday afternoon, before which he revealed on Twitter that Evans had telephoned him after hearing the diagnosis. "Just had a sincere phone call from Jonny Evans wishing me the best in my recovery, def [sic] wasn't intentional, just unfortunate part of the game," Holden said.

A real shame. An exceptional talent when he was young. He had all the potential to go on and be something a little bit special but I just think he'll go down as another injury plagued talent.
In a lot of ways, he reminds me more of Keith O'Neill (remember him? Played for Ireland), than Owen Hargreaves. Like O'Neill, Holden is an exceptionally talented footballer who has been constantly hounded by injuries. He's never had a long period of playing before getting an injury.
Hargreaves had an excellent career before he signed for Manchester United which is where it all went downhill. Not really the same comparison.
