given the current media interest in our players at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if he's in some hot water

was a cynical and silly move. It wont do his England hopes much use.

Someone ran into his arm. The ref saw it, nothing will come of it, he did nothing wrong anyway.

Threads like this are a total waste of time, you support Stoke right? , stop highlighting negatives and concentrate on positives hey?.Shawcross has had a good half as have we as a team , if you're concentrating on anything else you want your head testing!

I often wonder how the refs "miss" these things. Where can they be looking?

True, but the ref clearly sees it, doesn't it only go to the panel if no ones seen it? On the stream I'm watching they're already acting like its a given that he'll get a ban

The referee saw it and the camera showed a close up of the ref as Shawcross passed him by and he (Marriner) just gave a look of "nothing in it"
So unless they change the rules/laws/bollocks then nothing will happen.

Looking at a replay why would Ryan raise his arm at all? RVW is getting nowhere near the ball even if ryan wasn't there, so why raise his arm?

I'm concerned because it was a stupid, pointless action by one of our most important players and it's just giving the corrupt fa another opportunity to bumfuck our club. If we lose Shawcross we lose points too.

On the stream I'm watching they're already acting like its a given that he'll get a ban I have no idea, it honestly feels like the FA makes these things up as they go. One thing is for certain, if Shawcross is banned we are up shit creek without a paddle.

If the ref saw what happened then no retrospective ban can be given

If the ref saw what happened then no retrospective ban can be given Not strictly true now, they can part see an incident, therefore still get done later. However delete this negative thread anyway.

Doesn't count against Norwich anyway.

For whatever its worth, here's my take:
1. Yeah, highlighting negatives all the time is tedious when there's positives to be discussed. 2. That said, it was completely stupid and unnecessary by Shawcross. The ball was going out. There was no need for any sort of block, particularly one has blatant as that where he looked directly at the player and raised his arm to head level to block. 3. He was bloody lucky the ref deemed it ok (or somehow didn't see it) 4. Its starting to wind me up just a little bit how Stoke players seem to have lost the art of subtlety. Blocking is part of the game and I have absolutely no problem with it. But taking risks like both Pieters and Shawcross did early in the first half with such blatant action is just daft, giving the refs a reason to react. 5. Those who are saying "there was nothing in it" are fooling themselves. While it was hardly dangerous or violent, it absolutely was a stupid and unnecessary risk. 6. HOPEFULLY nothing more will come of it as the ref seemed to see it and not take any further action. 7. Please stop being so damn naive Stoke players so we don't have to be having these discussions on the Oatcake!
