To be fair if it's a term and condition agreed at the time of Season Ticket sale I can't see what fans can do about it.
Shocking yes but at least it encourages cup tickets lol

They've been getting conned along these sorts of lines for ages, haven't they? Cup tickets are automatically purchased for your season ticket account and so on, I think.

From what I can gather it's only if you cancel your DD after the game last night so they can't take the money out for the return CL game.
As mentioned above, it's part of your Ts&Cs when agreeing to the CL ticket scheme.
(Suspending your ticket so you can't get in against Man City may not be part of the Ts&Cs though)

Does anyone find it just a little bit amusing though? H It's absolutely hilarious: best supported club in the land bans its fans if they can't be bothered to watch their crap team get knocked out of the Champions League - by a Turkish team that has recently flogged its top scorer to a crap London team, who are bottom of the Prem. The Theatre of Dreams is rapidly becoming a joke - a chocolate teapot would be better at holding hot water than the Utd team of jokers would be likely to survive in the CL.

If this is allowed, it sets a very worrying precident for football supporters, ....... whatever team they follow. I can't see fans "boycotting" the Man City game so they will buy the Champions league tickets - pity their next game isn't against one of the "less attractive" teams as there would be empty seats and presumably a small financial loss If the season ticket is automatically suspended for a game, then surely the cost should be automatically refunded - they should not have to apply at the end of the season! A successful team may have several Cup games at home over a season, some very close to the Premiership ones - an item for the FSF?

Was anyone listening to Radio 5 Live in the build up to the Chelsea match last night? They had some fella on from the New York Stock Exchange talking about Manchester United and how their stock price is down 25% on last season or something like that. No one is investing in Man Utd because they can't see any long term prospects and the those who have invested in stocks are not happy (to put it politely) with what's going on at the club.
Was odd to hear them talking to those on the stock exchange just as they would if they were fans, ex-players, journos and pundits.
First time i've known a club to be discussed solely from that angle, it was primarily because there were rumours going around in New York that Moyes was going to be sacked but they were unsubstantiated but it was interesting to hear just what a business the "game" of football has become. We all know it but yeah, it was quite odd.

I have a friend who is a season ticket holder at Man Utd. He HAS to buy a cup ticket even if he doesn't go. The only exclusion is the League Cup. No wonder they still get huge crowds for " lesser " games.

it says a lot about the club that they charge high prices for a ST with the added previso that they force people to pay high prices for cup games in order to be come a ST holder even though they know that the vast majority of these cup games will become quite meaningless or in the case of the league cup severely depleted teams
we know stoke will play reserves and fring players in early cup rounds but we are not forced to buy cup tickets
if utd are going to force people to pay for 3rd round league cup or CL group games against weaker opposition they should be forced to play the top players
Man Utd have been very lucky wherte they have had 20 years of success year in year out so have been able to rip off fans - it looks like they could be inline for a liverpool style slump and will not be able to treat their fanss and customers with the same contempt in these circumstances, they have lost fans to FC Utd, they have lost fans as all clubs have due to modern football, and without success they will lose glory hunters and tourists
they seriously need to look at their ticketing prices and policies to ensure they have full grounds because people will vote with their feet.
you lose £30m next season by not finishing in top 4, with the BT deal it will be £60M the year after. utd cannot afford to lose £90m in revenue over two years especially with the idiots they have in charge of the club.
They reap what they sow

In the past our season tickets included five cup tickets that you paid up front for, and that included every cup competition even rubbish ones such as the Anglo-Italian games.

In the past our season tickets included five cup tickets that you paid up front for, and that included every cup competition even rubbish ones such as the Anglo-Italian games. I believe that non Premiership matches are part of the Arsenal season ticket set up. This includes the first rounds of each (home) game - they may be drawn away of course - and the first 7 relevant Cup games . If they don't play that many they get a refund They have a waiting list and are putting the prices up by 3% for next season www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/club-announces-ticket-prices-for-2014/15Re Man Utd, to say that you are "in effect banned" from a game if you do not buy into the Cup games situation isn't quite the same. I guess they have a waiting list for season ticket holders too. Pricing many fans out of football

We all know it but yeah, it was quite odd. Their stock has gone down so much due to it being over valued originally and has now come down to more like what it should have been, so I don't think they'll be to worried with that tbh. Financially they could afford to be out of the Champs League for a good 4\5 seasons and continue spending as they do before really feeling the pinch, its mental the amount of money they generate from merchandise and advertising.
