He has started to stay on for the full 90 minutes too which is depressing, he offered jack shit all game in what was otherwise a decent performance.

Amazing how we are doing well with only 10 men.
Give it a rest.
Same old tripe comments.

Tell me one positive thing he did today apart from the usual "tracking back" and buying of the free kick.

I thought he provided a good link between attack and midfield, not a great fan of his but he is playing well in his current role as well as giving Crouch much needed support.

Walters was superb today. Just like last Saturday he absolutely battered the two centre backs, both of whom he left bruised and bloodied.
It is no coincidence that we have produced two of our better performances this season with Walters in a position few can better.
He was involved in the creation of both goals last week, he won the corner for our 2nd goal this week and he took a defender away from Odem for our first goal with a dummy run.
Well done, SJW - keep it up.

Walters has a lot of deficiencies that are clear for all to see, but to accuse him of being soft when he is actually one of the bravest players I've ever seen is just mental. edit: I actually agree with the post so I'm removing my dislike, but the title is so so misguided.

You obviously didn't notice the state of his knee when he was pleading to carry on playing before being subbed last week, or when he jumped straight back on his feet after his head collision with Phil Jones. Technically lacking at times he may be, but he had a perfectly decent game today and one thing he most certainly isn't is soft.

And still he gets selected.
Hughes clearly knows nothing......or could it be that another highly experienced top flight manager knows more than some of our resident "experts"?????

There are many things you can accuse Walters of being (or not being) but soft is surely not one of them. He is as hard as nails.

I thought Walters covering Whelan and Adam in the center is vital to our current run of form and recent 4 points... His tracking back along with Odemwingie (shocking to me his great effort every game) has been key to our defense relieving the fullbacks and CDM's of pressure. I like Walters as a person and his attitude and effort far outway his natural goalscoring ability at times, but games like today where we needed to press them as they usually do to opponents Walter's was a "unsung hero."
He wasn't soft he was everywhere and in their faces just what we needed in all honesty. Would you rather have Ireland ball watching on defense and only attacking or SJW running his lungs dry winning every ball for us? Today he was really important. At home I don't think its as big of an issue, but away he's vital imo with his energy and engine. He annoys me with missed chances but he annoys them with his pressure and aggressiveness.

I agree he puts himself about, credit where credits due,but its when he is so easily knocked off the ball and in aerial challenges where instead of using his strength, just seems to go down looking for a foul.Re him providing a link i don't buy it personally, as he never really gives us any football of any quality. He is a poor passer and is very slow.He must have something more that you guys and Hughes see, but I'm eternally frustrated with his blundering around.

I thought Crouch was more a puss today than most games... I thought Walter's was misjudging the ball in the wind today and he did have some difficulty winning the ball for sure, but for me that's mainly a crouch mo. He was further back today on defense quite a bit I'm a critic of his forward play but his engine really makes him worth a start in most cases. At home, I'd start someone else but away he's a useful energizing figure.

I think he has done well last two games , would like to see him and Odimwinge switch more as they did for the goal , but much better shape last two games and you do need his willingness to work

In thought Jon did ok today. All his good work was done defensively and it was a huge help in getting a good point. I wouldn't play him Wednesday though, I'd go a touch more attacking

That's always been the lesson in my eyes lordb. If Walters is to play for stoke it's behind a striker or not at all

If you want to continue to play 4-4-2 with Adam then you have to play Walters upfront with whoever. He provides the necessary cover that provides Adam space to operate and stops him being under pressure defensively and tackling.
