Just wondering if we have any Mormons on here?
I was just wondering because, although I've been raised an atheist, I've decided that there simply has to be more to life. There's no way that we could have simply appeared from nothing, no way at all. From a purely scientific point of view, it's impossible. Think of it like this. Mass and energy cannot be created, only translated from one form into another. So where did everything come from? It can't have always been there, so the only way it makes any sense is that if an omnipotent and eternal force put it there. That force has to be a God.
So now I've proved that, I'm looking at which denomination to follow. I fully believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ, so I'm definitely a Christian. The Catholic Church is too big with too much of a hierarchy, I can't become involved in that. The Church of England is very much the same in my view. Although it's not the same because of the Pope and altar boys and stuff, it's still too conservative as well. Mormonism makes the most sense however you look at it. I was considering Jewishness as well but I don't want to have my foreskin cut off and I don't agree with halal meat.
I was just wondering what your religions are and if anyone can pass me any spiritual advice?
I'm just really struggling to find my place in the world and although I'm on the right path, I still feel as though I need a bit of assistance.

That's a good point I suppose, Thanksgiving then Channukah then Christmas. But I'm after more than that, I feel as though there's a massive hole deep inside me, and that I really need something to plug that hole. It's gaping and I'm simply desperate for something inside me, and I'm not sure that Jewish would provide that. For one, I don't really know a lot about them other than that they go to Church on Saturdays and that Hitler hated them for some reason and that led to one of the world wars.
Do Jehovahs Witnesses believe in God?

Why follow a church? Just make your own up, thats pretty much all religion is anyway so be creative and write your own rules.

Basically I want to follow a church because I don't like thinking too much, and if I just do what they tell me then I know I'll never go wrong. Like if there's a hell when you die, and they're all like "What did you do this for" I can just say "because they told me to do it". Basically I don't really trust my own judgement and all that, and I prefer to leave it to other people because I'm all trusting like Jesus wants and I know that people just want what's best for me so I just let them make the important decisions and I can just live my life wondering how many eggs I want for tea and stuff.
Makes sense when you think about it!

Do Jehovahs Witnesses believe in God? Hovis Biscuits loved god so much they named him Jehova. If you like Christmas or your birthday then this is not for you. Mind you, you might relish the idea of pissing off some of your neighbours by knocking on their door at random times to deliver the latest Watch a Tower magazine and try to convince them that nothing is older than 10,000 years and they definitely will not be one of the chosen 144,000 souls to go to heaven.

144,000 souls in heaven? Is that it?! That's only like, what a tenth of the people alive today? Nah Jehovas Witnesses aren't for me then, and I love Christmas and my birthday as well. Why, are they evil for them? I can kind of understand that Christmas would be evil because it's a multi-faith thing and God obviously has problem with people who don't believe in him. I'd be a bit pissed off if people in my everyday life kept denying my existence as well which is more than understandable.
What about Aborigine? I've heard they don't have confession.

Have a go at Scientology, it's scientific, therefore, it must be right.

I had the Jehovas here today, I nearly converted one of em =). How does a loving , forgiving God kill all those Egyptians to let his favorites (who he isn't supposed to have) led by Moses go and the Catholics are mostly ROMAN catholics set up by the Roman State and while I believe in Jesus I don't believe in his resurection so I'm sort of Agnostic I think.
No old man with a fluffy beard for me in fact with all the wars and other evils I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't a young man having a laugh at us at times. If you believe in Stoke you must have some faith =)

Catholicism is definitely bad. No contraception except withdrawal method. I mean who in their right mind could even think of whipping out split second before your vinegar stroke. No chance

Have a go at Scientology, it's scientific, therefore, it must be right. Aliens coming to Earth and seeding life then returning to harvest us? Sadly this sounds more feasible than anything in the 'main' religions with their 900 year old boat builders, flying horses and Jewish zombies.

I'm living in Salt Lake at the minute (home of the Mormons). It is a very odd branch of Christianity from what I can see as an outsider...you'll need to give up caffeine, smoking, drinking, gambling, and a load more stuff too I think. However, you have to pay 10% of your wages to the church!
I believe you get the same hierarchy as the CofE and Catholic church though...and the church influences a LOT of stuff in the state here. The drinking laws are absolutely bonkers for a start! They generate something like $7bn a year though, so someone is doing something right!

born and raised a Catholic...don't agree with any of the shit they spout BUT...they do have a great get out clause. basically you can do what the fuck you want for your whole life and as long as you confess BEFORE dying then, job done..... straight through the Pearly gates with a golden ticket for the "Paradise line" and a high five from St. Peter on the way. piece of piss mate! well, as long as you don't mind the odd bumming session while you're growing up

Islam
I know you said christian but they believe JC was a prophet so that should be close enough. Certainly meets your requirement of doing your thinking for you and, if you pick one of the hard line versions, you get to order around women and make them dress up as a felt dalek.
Only problem I can see is the lack of booze and bacon butties - which I have to admit would be a deal breaker for me.
