If we are going to have this "the next premier league game is more important " attitude . Then we might as well not bother entering the cup competitions . Why don't we take each game as it comes . I know which games i preferred it was the cup semi and final not an away win at bolton and a defeat at man city . We are going to get relegated eventually clubs of our size do . We need to enjoy it now make the most of our opportunities and worry about the rest later . You are a long time in the wilderness . I say let's go for it strongest side win lose or draw

I'm quite sure we will be knocked from the FA Cup in this game, but I'm looking forward to watching us not park the bus inside the 18 like we would have in previous seasons.

Stoke showed chelsea too much respect in the first half at the brit - so they need to go into the game confident, but not too much.... because they will want revenge with all guns blazing!!

Start guidetti and crouch up front. see if they can form a good partnership whilst we've got a chance away from the league.

I've decided to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of Stokekind.
At precisely kick-off I will take the dog for a 2hr walk and return to find we've won and I missed it.
I feel it's my duty...

No Wilko, Huth and possibly Guidetti then.
Bego could play, Kenwyne may even be involved!

"We have got to be mindful about the big game on Wednesday, but that said there is sufficient time for players to recover in time for that match too." - Mark Hughes. One player who could be forced to wait for his first Potters start however is front-man John Guidetti. "John unfortunately has come in today a little bit under the weather to be honest so we will have to check him tomorrow." - FFS!! FA Cup team news from Hughes

This match has to be taken as seriously as a league match. There is no point in trying to "save" someone for Sunderland.
MH cannot pick the same XI as the CP match; he has to go with a new best XI and try something different.
If he succeeds and gets a good performance (result would be better), then he will have done his best to prepare for Sunderland. If he fails then he knows what not to try at Sunderland.
The only difference is Chelsea are bound to score, Sunderland are not bound to score.
A good result against Chelsea would lift spirits but increases the risk of tiring/injuring players in further Cup games, in what is a survival season. Stoke don't want to do a Wigan.

Subs: Watmore, Ki, Gardner, Pickford, Colback, O'Shea, Borini. I guess we would have done the same v similar opposition . Wednesdays game is very important It's a good chance for us to give Guidetti (if well enough) Arnie, Assaidi, now maybe Odemwinge some time. I think we will be fielding a strong side - Chelsea have a very strong squad to turn to. Hope it's a good game. It's certainly a good opportunity to show our intentions to any potential signings

Game is a total irrelevance and management need to treat it as such their career defining game is wednesday Agree that Sunderland game is far more important but don't want us to be on the end of a thrashing today that would further damage morale. Saying that,I think if we can keep the score down to 3 or less then we have done ok. Defeatist I know but I cannot see any other outcome.

Our away form.is utter gash , I expect at least 5 today as clueless hughes will try to play chelsea with an open attacking style today,we are letting so many goals in lately that we wil need an umpire soon and not a ref,i hear we are trying to tempt biggins out of retirement to play with the mercenary odemwinging cunt

If a Stoke team turn up with the right attitude of mind and, given the atrocious weather, then I honestly think we could nick this 2-1.
