Jesus Christ, what an abomination of a player. Yes, he wins his fair share of 50/50s, but the guy is a woeful midfielder. Forget a new striker, a new midfielder should be at the top of Les's priority list.
How can a premier league midfielder not be able to pass the ball? It's embarrassing at times how poor he is in possession. Make a simple pass Glenda, and make it forward!
You don't have to smash it at them and make it impossible for them to control. He is alarmingly short in this league.
That aside, mixed bag today. Plenty of negatives but a lot of positives too.
Onwards and upwards.

You're totally wrong with regards Glenn Whelan, however you're more than entitled to your wrong opinion.

I've not really warmed to the lad as a player, but even I find that OP a bit random. He was better than N'Zonzi today. If you're pinpointing useless footballers, Wilson did a fair impression today.

I thought he had another very good game today. Won 50/50s, broke it up well, was more positive in his passing than normal.
Oh, and nobody on the pitch completed more passes. By miles.

The main problem I can see, is that we give the ball away far too easily. You cannot afford to do this against teams of this calibre. Other than that, I thought that there were some really good pieces of play from our lads. On saying that, from where I was sitting, all their goals looked a tad soft, and I did not think that was a penalty either!

My MOTM he seemed to be everywhere and spent a lot of time organising people as well.
His passing seems to have improved a lot as well.

Hi guys , great programme,
Having listened to you all every week I have come to the conclusion that Ang just prefers Pulis to Hughes, It stands out with her comments every week , even after a great game like today when we were so unlucky.

I had a feeling you'd appear with stats. To address the othet issue, I agree. N'Zonzi was worse. He was non existent which makes him worse by default. He is capable of being brilliant though, that's the difference. Same with Adam. At times poor, at others game changing. Whelan is incapable of being great or being the game changer. He's too negative and his distribution is dire. Why smash the ball, in the air, to a team mate as a pass? Why make it almost impossible for them to control? His comfort zone is sideways or back. I don't give a shit what the stays say. My eyes tell me we need a massive improvement in that position.

With respect mate, if your eyes are telling you his distribution is shite then they're flat out wrong, because nobody completed as many passes as him. Most of them went forward as well. How many defensive midfielders are 'game changers'? He just seems to be your go-to scapegoat for a defeat.

I think that what you have to accept with glenn is that he is in the team to do a specific job, protect the back 4 and be careful in possession. he rarely commits going forward and is certainly not an attacking player. in 5 years under pulis, Whelan was never a player who got deployed to be a creative force, he was more often than not stuck in "the cage". for the job that he does do though, he is pretty solid most of the time and im sorry but you do not get over 50 caps for Ireland if you don't have a bit of talent.
I think the actual issue we have is his partner, Stephen n'zonzi. the player who should be running with the ball, bossing the midfield, strong in the tackle and mobile enough to get from box to box has gone missing. when in possession he is more pedestrian than anything, no real urgency or pace to move the ball. he isn't stepping up to the challenge of taking control of games and that is perhaps exposing Whelan's limitations. I thought last week was a perfect example, in control of the game for 70 odd minutes and should have had it wrapped up, Leicester scored a goal and all of a sudden a bit of panic set in. what we needed was someone to take responsibility and see the game out by being calm in possession, n'zonzi went into hiding and that tells you a lot about a player's mentality. no doubt he is talented, but whatever the reason is whether its confidence or he wants away from the club, he isn't at the party for me currently. its a real shame because when he is on his game, he is a cracking player.

How many defensive midfielders are 'game changers'? He just seems to be your go-to scapegoat for a defeat. He could make a million meaningless passes and I wouldn't change my mind. He had opportunities today to make a difference. There was one great chance where, under no pressure whatsoever, he just completely over hit it. At others he could've played it simply on the deck but smashed it in the air and made it extremely difficult to control. I'll give him credit for winning his 50/50s. He did that well. You need more as a midfielder though. You may as well bring Delap back.
