My ex's son is covered in tattoos, arms, chest, stomach, feet, and legs. He also has those big stupid things in his ears and a pierced nose. He's 23. I'd love to be able to jump in a time machine and jump to when he's 60 and laugh at him when his tattoos are green blobs and his ear lobes and the by his knees.
I'm not against these things but he looks a state now so i wonder what will be look like when he's in his 60s.

Quickest way to get some ideas is to use google images tab - There's millions out there so narrow it down as appropriate with your preferred theme. It will also lead you to some of the best tattoo artists. Not suggesting you copy anything but use as a basis for your theme perhaps.
I've not got any but am a great admirer of those artistically, subtly and thoughtfully executed - as others have said above, avoid cheesy cliched stuff that will not stand the test of time.....again google will quickly show you what's bad and downright funny (search bad tattoos!)
All IMHO

I had an idea of what I wanted but no idea about how to sit it all together. I gave a load of imagery to the guy I was booked in with, and he used his artistry to develop a full design for me.
The first hour of my first sitting was putting it all together, resizing it etc, and once I was happy, we cracked on with it.

When I got mine started, I thought my old man would disapprove. So, I didn't tell him in advance, and showed him after I'd had it all drawn-in, and some of it detailed.
He loves it!!

they shrink back again? least you dont go over a size 10 He's doomed then cos he could fit a cd in his If they make him happy, let him get on with it. People should be free to make the choices they want if it makes them feel happy, as long as they're not hurting anyone else. I hope you don't take the piss out of him as he's your flesh and blood. Support him. Better for everyone.

Maybe that's just me being reflective on it, and looking beyond the initial excitement if getting one. May I also point out he is not my flesh and blood, as I did say my ex's son. And lastly I never took the piss as it's his choice and he will have to live with the consequences of his passion.

Tatoos are fashionable at the moment.
Tatoos are though pretty much permanent.
So people are having something permanent for the point of a temporary fashion. Madness IMHO, but each to their own I guess.

It really is better to sit down with the artist and chat through what you want. Just have a picture in your mind of what you want and just go through it with them. That way you will have a custom designed one that only you have got
