Quick question, do managers have to get work permits and if so how does it work? Obviously with a player its linked to proportion of international appearances but what about managers? Just wondering because of south americans like Poyet and Pelligrini and it never seems to be mentioned.
No real point to this question but just thought about it earlier

They have to fulfil two criteria
1 - Have you managed before?
Answer - Yes I have managed before
2 - Are you Tony Pulis?
Answer - Nah Nige
Declined!

Not a clue but a good question.
Poyet would have got one from when he was a player and I wouldn't be surprised if he was a British citizen now, he's been here that long.
His son has played for England too at youth level.

Most work permits operate on a points based system where the prospective employee (the manager) is sponsored by the prospective employer (the Club, in this case) however, some "talented" individuals can apply without sponsorship; this is usually entrepreneurs, investors or scientists

Guidance was that they must have played in 75% of their national teams games in the last 2 years to be judged 'skilled'. There does appear to be a let out that others have used for people of "high net Worth" that is more than a £1m of their own money, not exploited by us. (3) High Net Worth Players This is a more novel, and certainly less common model which only a few clubs are aware of. If an individual has more than £1million to ‘invest’ in the UK he can obtain entry clearance for an initial period of at least 3 years. Applicants may rely on their own money as well as money that they own jointly with their spouse or partner or even on money owned by their spouse or partner outright. Further permission to remain in the United Kingdom can be granted after the initial period and this route can ultimately lead to settlement fullcontactlaw.co.uk/2012/10/work-permits-for-footballers/

Thanks Stokiejoe & Basingstokie for your insight & explanations.
I hope that someone at SCFC is aware of the points that you have made to assist the pursuit of Agudelo.
