I was sat on the next table to him in Pizza Hut in Newcastle only this Friday just gone. I was absolutely starstruck. One of my heroes literally four foot away from me. He just has this magnificent aura about him. A true great. Made my Christmas complete it really did

If you,re listening Mr Scholes....have a word with the boss....and make it the greatest PR coup in the last 25 years.....
Invite Pele over to unveil it.
A Marketing Jackpot that most businesses would die for....
Get it sorted...

Throughout our years in the wilderness this man stood out as a beacon of what this club is all about. His devotion to good causes both locally and nationally should be something to which we are all eternally proud. He will always be regarded as the greatest goalkeeper of all time. He will never be surpassed. If anyone deserves a knighthood and proper recognition for his services to football then this is it. I'm not normally known for giving out praise gushingly , but occasionally the mood and occasion warrants it. I doubt if this city will ever be graced with such a universally acclaimed sportsman as Gordon Banks is. I just hope that Stoke cIty take the time to appreciate this and acknowledge his devotion to this club and to his career as a whole. Only one other man is up their with Gordon Banks and that other man is SIr Stan .....let's have a statue erected so that Gordon and his family can enjoy it now please... For far too long we have taken this great mans presidency of the club for granted....We'll I haven,t....I will always be eternally proud. Happy BIrthday SIr....and best wishes to the family. Mumf You and I will never agree upon anything ...But in this instance I agree with you entirely ....Banks of England ...!

Happy birthday Gordon Banks. I feel privelaged to have seen him play for Stoke City when he was probably the best keeper in the world. The save of Geoff Hurst's penalty against West Ham in the cup, will stick out in my mind. Absolutely unbelievable !!
Not only the best keeper but a true gentleman, very polite and a nice bloke alround. A true role model for young footballers.
Happy birthday and many more of them Gordon.

I can see him now taking to the field, making up a back 5 of Banks,Marsh,Smith,Bloor,Pejic. All Englishmen, and for me the best defensive line up Stoke has ever had. Imagine playing with the World's greatest Goalkeeper standing behind you. From what I hear GB is also a real gentleman, so happy birthday Gordon, and thanks for the memories.

Wot Mumf said - the Pele idea is an excellent one

I couldn't agree more. I have had the privilege of being in the great mans company and I will never forget him. He works tirelessly for charity. Not only is he the finest goalkeeper that has appeared for Stoke and possibly the nation, he is also the nicest man you could ever wish to meet. Again Mumf, I agree with every word you say. Happy Birthday to the great Gordon Banks

Happy Birthday to the great man and the reason i became a Stokie all those years back. And me mate, that's why at 53 I can still remember his birthday. The irony for me is that the old man[who's the same age as the Great man] is the one who took me to see him as a starstruck 9 year old and this afternoon i have to take him for a spell in an assessment unit for a few weeks for his Dementia/mental health issues Won't be easy to say the least.

My lad's U12 team end of season awards were presented to them by the great man last July, I'm now the proud owner of a picture of me, my lad and Gordon Banks.
Banksie gave a little talk to the lads the gist of which was they need to always do their best, work hard, play as a team and never give up even when things are not going so well. He said that's what he'd always done and by doing so he'd played for two great clubs, played in cup finals for both, played for his country. As an after thought he then said "oh, almost forgot, I also played in a World Cup winning team". It was like a throw away line,he said it with such modesty.
I told my lad that Banksie's not just a famous footballer, he's part of this country's history, there are only 11 Englishmen who've ever lived who can say "I played in a World Cup winning team".
Happy birthday to a living legend.

The reason why a boy from Waltham Cross became a Stokie 47 years ago.
Gordon Banks: Legend and my hero.
Happy Birthday Bonksie!
