Anyway to lighten the wrist slashing mood a little can I be the first on here (I've had a look and can't find a thread anywhere) to wish The Legend a happy 76th birthday.

Many Happy Returns! Wonderful keeper. A masterstroke by Waddo getting him to come to The Vic at £52,000.
I still fondly think of that night at Upton Park when he save Geoff Hurst's penaly in the 2nd leg of the League Cup Semi Final

Oh man that first game he played for us, ironically at home to Leicester, was like a dream. Me and my old man had season tickets in Butler St Stand right in line with the Boothen End penalty spot. Remember just sitting there gazing at our new hero and not believing he was a Stoke player. I can even remember where I was when, 5 years later, the news filtered out that he had been badly injured in a car crash. I was sat in the King Malcolm Hotel just outside Dunfermline having a dinner time session with some navy pals. Happy Birthday Saint Gordon of Madeley.

Happy birthday to the great man, a big reason why we won a league cup and a world cup & the reason why we didn't follow it up, due to sickness. Also the greatest save in football history to deny Pele.

Throughout our years in the wilderness this man stood out as a beacon of what this club is all about. His devotion to good causes both locally and nationally should be something to which we are all eternally proud. He will always be regarded as the greatest goalkeeper of all time. He will never be surpassed. If anyone deserves a knighthood and proper recognition for his services to football then this is it. I'm not normally known for giving out praise gushingly , but occasionally the mood and occasion warrants it. I doubt if this city will ever be graced with such a universally acclaimed sportsman as Gordon Banks is. I just hope that Stoke cIty take the time to appreciate this and acknowledge his devotion to this club and to his career as a whole. Only one other man is up their with Gordon Banks and that other man is SIr Stan .....let's have a statue erected so that Gordon and his family can enjoy it now please... For far too long we have taken this great mans presidency of the club for granted....We'll I haven,t....I will always be eternally proud.
Happy BIrthday SIr....and best wishes to the family.
