Not a bad record but in the form they are in, I hope our back four are up to it. No dodgy back passing to Begovic otherwise Remy will demolish us.

I would double brickwall us. Begovic cameron Shawcross wilson Pieters Pennant whelan crouch nzonzi ireland Adam since he cant tackle. You should go all out with a.... Begovic Wilkinson Cameron Shawcross Wilson Muniesa Pieters Walters Whelan Nzonzi Palacios This is Newcastle Utd you know, they've had a few decent results for sure but from what i've seen of them they're as much of a muchness as all those teams in the league who aren't Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs.

Begovic Pieters Shawcross Wilson Cameron Assaidi Whelan N'zonzi Adam Walters Crouch
I'm really not too sure whether to play Ireland or not. Adam deserves to play after the Villa game, but as we've seen before, he can earn his place, then end up playing shit once he's done so.
2-0 Newcastle.

Premier League predictions: Lawro v MOTD commentator Guy Mowbray "Stoke have won two and drawn two of their league games in December but their improved form is not a big surprise to me. Stoke have only lost one of their last eight league games since the start of November It was always going to take their manager Mark Hughes a bit of time to get things right after taking over from Tony Pulis and they are starting to look more like they are Hughes's team - they are hard to play against but they try to play football too. They were short of goals at the start of the season but slowly that change of style seems to be kicking in." Lawro's prediction: 2-1Guy Mowbray's prediction: Stoke are looking hard to beat again, and it's Newcastle law that they beat the big guns at home and toil in the games you'd think they were more likely to win. 1-1

Newcastle generally don't do draws. They did draw at home to Southampton earlier this month, and lost to Hull, so Stoke should match that. Like Spurs they are very good against lower placed opposition but poor against top half of the table sides. If Stoke are a genuine top half of the table team they have a good chance of winning.
I think Stoke should not play defensively and let Newcastle dominate but should follow their new style of trying to keep possession till an opening appears, occasionally varying it by punting a long ball to Crouch.

They've recently won at 8th placed current Champions Manchester United, won at 7th placed Tottenham Hotspur, beaten 4th placed Chelsea and drawn against current league leaders Liverpool. They've also only drawn at home against 17th place West Ham, lost against 12th placed Hull as you say, drawn against 9th placed Saints (i'll give you that, top half team), lost against bottom placed Sunderland and got hammered at 11th placed Swansea. So i'm not sure of your logic or reasoning there mate.

Further to my earlier post I need to elaborate.
I was being general in my comments not literal. Yes they have beaten ManU and Spurs but only scraped through 1-0 against teams that have been very erratic this season.
They have lost to bottom half sides but they generally put away bottom half teams and have picked up a lot of points.
Some people think Stoke are going to be well beaten, I say there is no need to fear them, Stoke can beat them like Hull (or Swansea). They only have a goal difference of +2.
I don't count the Sunderland defeat. I live in the North East and the rivalry between the clubs has to be seen to be believed. When Sunderland play Newcastle it's like a Scotland team playing England, they are a different entity.
The worst think Stoke can do is play defensively, the Newcastle French players will love that. But if Stoke go at them, those same French players won't like it.
Last season Stoke got their nose in front with a goal, then went 100% negative and let Newcastle take the game from them.

Begovic Geoff & Eric getting providing the width by getting forward from fullback Ryan & Wilson as CB's Whelan just in front to of them then a tight midfield of Walters on the right,Nzozni with Adam left but tucked right in Ireland in front of them Crouch up top
keep the bloody ball & frustrate their crowd.

Going be tough today and would certainly settle for a point but if 'second half Stoke' turn up then we could get all three points. Here's hoping. Newcastle 1:2 Stoke. GGGOOOAAARRRNNN STOKE

I think the next four games will be a great test for us to see how we are getting on , Newcastle look right on their game at the moment so we will need to defend well and frustrate them first half but if we can hang on in there there could be a point in it if we can get hold of the ball and break well .

Went to bed last night believing we would get a draw; whatever I ate or drank woke this morning convinced we would win 3-1; Crouch, Nzonzi and Arnie scoring, can't watch the game (family duties) which usually means I miss a good game (boxing Day last year etc). A complete load of bollocks I know but there it is!

Sneaky feeling we might get something here. I think they can be vulnerable and we seem to have confidence, character and a will to play, even away.
So.....a 4-0 twatting if my prediction is as accurate as usual.
