Was just going to post this. It's actually pretty good for us to even feature in this type of list when there are what, 20 or so massive clubs who would expect their squads to pack it out.

If any other 'keeper in the Prem is above of him, he should be higher.

It looks like Delap is at 74 in that list.

Presumably that puts him in the top 10 keepers in the world. Anyone know how many keepers there are in the list?

I wonder what number Jon will be. If, indeed, he's in this list at all.

They've listed 41-100 now and there are quite a few keepers.
Cech 65th, Lloris 64th...

They've listed 41-100 now and there are quite a few keepers. Cech 65th, Lloris 64th... I guess it depends how they have done it. If they have picked the top 9 players in each position then they rate Asmir the ninth best keeper in the world. On last years performance, the Castrol rating system had him as second best keeper in the world for most of the season and never as low as 9th. This would suggest to me that some kind of celebrity weighting has been applied. If it has been drawn up without reference to position, then it is difficult to assess whether e.g. a forward is better than a goalkeeper . Interesting that Cech and lloris have come higher. Cech, while once a brilliant keeper is not as good as Asmir is now. Lloris never has been as far as I am aware.

Great to see Asmir featured but any list that has Kompany only 8 places above Side Show Bob is hardly definitive!

Lloris as a judgement call ahead of Asmir I can live with, I don't agree with it but it's fair enough. Cech? Absolutely laughable.

Fellaini was in last year's list which says it all really. Surely Gerrard is better than Lampard.

Presumably that puts him in the top 10 keepers in the world. Anyone know how many keepers there are in the list? Bego is 7th of the 7 'keepers on the list, 3 of which come from the Prem (Bego, Cech and Lloris) Hart's not in there, which isn't surprising based on this year's form! Personally I rate Bego as World number 3 behind Neuer and Buffon; certainly number one in the Prem.

These kind of lists, like it or not, are definitely weighted by the calibre of club the player is playing for and rightly so. There have been plenty of very good players (and especially goalkeepers) who, on signing for the biggest clubs have failed to cope with the pressure and goldfish-bowl environment associated with that. Part of being amongst the very best players is being able to maintain or even improve their performances with all the added pressure.
From what I've seen of Asmir both on AND off the pitch, he seems to have great confidence in his own ability and an exemplary attitude and I reckon he's very well placed to join one of the superclubs and take the whole thing in his stride. This kind of test is the kind of thing that most players, pundits and journalists are waiting to see how any promising players cope with before a definitive opinion is made. I reckon by the end of the 2014/2015 season (when I expect Asmir would've played a full season at a Champions League club), he'd feature much higher on any list and be amongst the top 2-3 keepers with the likes of Neuer, Courtois, Buffon etc.
