NPower has the worst customer service of all the utility companies.
They are outsourcing their customer servicing to India.
They are making 2,500 people redundant, with a very big chunk of them from our own city.
...and they are more expensive than other providers too!
(No, I do not have any connection to anyone that works for them).

Staff there apparently heard a rumour yesterday about the job losses. Confronted the management who denied it then
Heard on midlands today that the office was closing later that night.
Disgusting

They clearly aren't making enough profits. Wankers.

I worked (on a contract) for one of the big energy providers a couple of years ago. Worked directly for one of their directors.
At points during the year they were actively trying to hide money - so that their profits that they had to publicise weren't too big.
Shameful.

When i lived in England I used them - best of a bad bunch.
As far as I'm concerned they can do what they want. They're a private company that answers to their shareholders and noone else. If people don't like them, they can leave.

I'm not with npower, but any company who moves their call centres abroad loses my business the day I find out about it.
It's not solely about patriotism, I'm not spending hours explaining where I live to someone who I can barely understand and who can't understand me either.

Indian call centres are simply not fit for purpose. I recently moved my broadband to BT but I've since found they use Indian call centres too so wish I hadn't bothered. You just spend hours on the phone going round in circles and getting no where until you eventually give up.

So... your post is initially complaining about their poor customer service, pointing out that a fair number of those who provide this 'worst customer service' are in our own city and then complain about the business looking to change it? There would be a much better argument there if the customer service was one of the industries best and they were based in Stoke. The only way you can get away with doing a shit job in Stoke is if you're in the labour party.

The only way you can get away with doing a shit job in Stoke is if you're in the labour party. NPower are saying that it's the "back office" jobs that are going to India, and that phone calls are still going to be UK based. I've had to deal with NPower on many occasions, and I've found them to be a pain in the arse to deal with. I don't think this is due to the staff, I put it down to poor systems and the general arrogance of utility companies in general. Seeing that NPower struggles to communicate internally as it is, I struggle to see how sending the support function out to India is going to improve their service. If you've been looked after by NPower and/or you're getting a good deal, then fine, but if you've been sleeping and not checked if they have been screwing you for years, then go and check with uswitch or moneysupermarket etc and do yourself a favour as well as sending a message to NPower.
