Evening folks. Dunno about you lot but this weekend's game feels massive for both sides given the stage of the season and what the three points for either would do for their season. I don't often get nervous these days, but got a few butterflies about this one. Written a bit here ( pickourteam.com/premierleague/news/21-11-2013/unlikely-rivals-sunderland-and-stoke-to-battle-for-big-stakes/856872) about the unlikely Stoke/Sunderland modern rivalry and the massive stakes involved this weekend but suffice to say that, if there is a winner, I think it could be a season-defining afternoon for us both. How are you lot feeling about it?

You're gonna get slaughtered mate. Stoke are that refined, classy and full of goals these days you won't know what's hit you.

Its not a six pointer as such but if there is a clear victor then I can see one side sliding straight in to the shit heap.
It's a very big game.
Lets face it, if this game was taking place in May it would be on the tele as the main feature.

A draw written all over this one, which is useless to us. But I think Sunderland would see it as a good point to build on the man city victory.

I'd definitely agree a point would suit us more than Stoke. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it finished in a draw as I think both teams will be focused primarily on not losing it and neither attack is exactly firing. It's an odd kind of game this time because it's the first time we have played each other in the Premier League without knowing exactly what to expect from the other. I genuinely don't know what the post-Pulis Stoke actually is yet, and Poyet's Sunderland is still very much a work in progress.

You'd be amazed Captain - there's some on here that say its just another game and Stoke "have lost some games at home before you know".
I think it's massive and bigger for Stoke than Sunderland by some distance .

Must be big if it's dragged you back on 'ere, fish But I don't think so much for you? Down where we and you are, you don't expect to get anything, anywhere, away from home. So if you do get anything that will build on your (top) performance against Citeh; but if you don't you just shrug and carry on. For us, we almost must win. Folk aren't going to take another (lame) draw - or worse - too well. Not against another of our rivals to avoid relegation. Not at home.

Missed you Captain. I was surprised you were not here during Di Canio's reign, which turned out not quite as you predicted if I remember correctly!

We are lucky in the sense we have only really wasted one home game so far, which was Fulham. Rest have been Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, and Newcastle. Chelsea and Spurs are the next two. If we can stay in touch, we have the chance of a strong second half of the season.

Without going to the stats History will show a greater number of close calls both and home and away. I would be very surprised if it's a free flowing game with goals.

Shitting bricks to be honest. We've been dire at home (missed the Man City match) and I don't know:
A- Which Stoke team will turn up B- How long we'll keep it up if we take the lead. C- Whether we can score if we go behind.
Funny one. It's either the best time to play Stoke, or the worst.
I love looking forward to matches and the feelings / emotions that go with it, but right now I'd take a horrible boring 1-0 win with a goal going in off Arnie's arse in the 89th minute.

I'd actually be more confident if we were playing Sunderland away to be honest. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

We'll go 4 up first half, then hang on for a 4-3 win.
Either that or 0-0 and we both can't hit a barn door with a shovel

The game has significance in the sense we need to build on our leads when we get them and finish teams like yourselves off. It wont have a major impact on the overall 38 games. Pop back to your board instead of popping on here to patronise us. SGS
