If teams like they can evolve then it's only a question of time and money.
I was very impressed with their game today.

They did play well but with it they created very little and imo we created more. They showed us what we need though (not that we needed showing). A bloke in the middle who is a tank and an attacking 4 that move as one and can play all along the 4 positions in that system.

We probably made them look better than they are!

They played very well. I thought Wanyama was good today.
Very good side who deserved to beat us today, I'm afraid to say.

We probably made them look better than they are! The evidence of the season so far tells us that they ARE that good. They suffered with the conditions today, just as we did but they look a very good side to me. There is nothing flukey about their form.

Didn't create much at all, but played the ball about well. On chances we had more clear cut, not many I know.

To summarise their effectiveness:
1. Solid central defence 2. Effective wingers 3. High, wide full backs 4. Fast, one-touch midfield
I think we need to mostly improve in point 4 to emulate their model.

They're a good blend of different qualities but I'm not sure we're all that far away from them.
Form and confidence are massive factors and we're short of both.

They're pressure and passing is juventus or Arsenalesque' to say they haven't come along way is a major understatement. But, we need to emulate the same midfield they employed in all reality.

Very impressive. Norwich, WBA and now Southampton have come to the Brit and looked far more advanced than ourselves. Only thing we can do is keep supporting the lads until January and then we need a big window. We have too many players who just aren't good enough.

On the few times we put the ball in the box they panicked I thought. Going forward they were very direct at times.
I thought they looked like a team on the crest of a wave just waiting to go on a bad run.
A better team than us would have isolated and targeted Wanyama and stopped the clock from ticking.

I needed to get "sit on Wanyama" taped today. It would have saved me as hoarse a voice as I have. The one time we did it when Palacios nailed him it worked.

We are talking about a team who has beaten Liverpool at home, Liverpool smashing it and they beat them, taken points from United at old Trafford, they are a top team at the moment, bet their fans are having the time of their lives!!

He was beyond dreadful today and just didn't want to go anywhere near Wanyama. It's where Walters has his use.

No world beaters by any means and considering they are supposed to have the best defence in europe i thought they were very average at the back, they nearly let us in several times by overplaying or playing silly balls. A more mobile strikeforce would have capitalised on that.

Challenge we have is we have no money and don't have time and we probably have the wrong manager given what we have seen so far....hoping I am wrong but last 4 home games have been a massive step back from anything in the last 5 years! But yes they were very good, spent big but were well disciplined and knew how to pass and move!

Superb business by southampton to nail the midfielder from celtic. If we had a guy like that with his attitude things might look alot different. Also agree with you we should have won. I thought they were a decent side but it was a fairly even game, they looked like a team and played like one though, our spirit leads a lot to be desired and we are starting to look like a team of individuals. Big worry for me.

When things click and I still think they will, the fractiousness will magically disappear. But to change we need that rock in midfield, we have no platform to build from.

I lost count of the times we failed to claim the loose ball.

That rock in midfield mate, we are going to be looking in some pretty obscure places on our budget so it seems, crying out for an organiser/enforcer with that bit of ability and vision. Hope you are right about the frustration but i'm looking at one or two players mate and questioning the attitude and stomach for the battle ahead. N'zonzi heads the list.

We've got to and they can be found. The example I'll use is one Victor Wanyama, he cost Celtic about 700k. We've needed one for ages now though, so so annoying. Me too! N'Zonzi is a worry but some are saying it about Arnie and I'd completely disagree. He gets frustrated with himself more than anything and I think You just have to accept that that's him. When I play, I call myself all sorts and I warn my team mates that I aren't calling them cunts!

If you think they deserve a thread entitled 'Christ they were good' I'd be surprised if you'd ever watched a game of fucking football in your life to be honest. They are a mid table side as were West Brom when they bested us a couple of weeks ago.

I thought arnie played well today, as you are going to get with a player like him there are moments of hair tearing out frustration too. Players need to get on his wavelength in my opinion and start trying to play in tandem with him upfield, his lack of options means he tries a lot of it on his own and ends up getting pissed off. I like him and i also think munesia should walk into that midfield.
