Agreed. Firefighters just had a 3 year pay freeze followed by a massive 1% rise this year. Much the same as nurses and frontline NHS staff yet they have a clause in their contracts that forbids them from striking. Its time the same clause was put into firemens contracts too. to be fair, the NHS staff didn't have contracts setting out the rules of their pensions when they joined which have now been changed without warning by the government who have basically told them they won't be getting their pension if at the age of 55 they don't pass the same fitness tests an 18 year old newbie passes. people on here saying how the private sector etc. are the ones bailing out the economy, that's EXACTLY what the government are doing here, they are literally stealing money from the firefighters that was previously contractually promised to them to pay off the government debts (and those that talk about the pension firefighters do get, I presume you're all aware how much they contribute themselves out of their own wages i.e. NOT a 50/50 contribution like you get in most private companies....I can guarantee you it's massively more than any of us working in the private sector pay towards our pensions) personally I say fair play to them...I can't stomach how people say "Their jobs are too important to allow them to strike" but then go on to complain about the fact they "Earn good wages". how many people on here would be happy if they were promised something by their employers who years later took it all back without warning and still expected them to risk their lives every time they went out to work???? not many i'm guessing but what a surprise, when they're sat behind a keyboard at a cushy little desk in a warm office they're the first ones to fucking whinge, complain and moan with little/no knowledge of the facts...tell you what, if it's so easy, it's such good money and they're all so lazy they're earning extra cahs on the side then why don't you guys go and give the job a crack eh? i'd give you half a day before you're running home crying to mummy!!! staggering how so many applaud soldiers, nurses, doctors etc. for the work they do for society yet just take the piss out of those who risk their lives everytime they get called out for OUR benefit. instead of banning strikes for firemen i'd be more inclined to ban the use of the fire services for the self righteous wankers on here that know sod all about the facts surrounding the situation and see where that leaves them if they ever have the misfortune to actually need the fire service.

Frankly I'm more concerned that 340 MP's claimed for heating bills and Stoke councillors are going to appoint themselves directors of their new energy company.. 340? Did 300 forget They ought to fook this second home shit off and just build a premier inn style place just for MP's to use for Westminster, would cost less in the long run and create a few jobs to run it.

Some tradesmen can earn that in a week. Some people graft all week and earn considerably less.
