"Damn well said Ant. Mind you, Stoke and Britannia are hardly anyone's idea of a nice Saturday afternoon out. Anything can happen. Though we are by far the better team now, it doesn't mean easy 3 points. Stoke can be bloody dogged on their own groung. That CB Ryan Shawcross has caught my eye lately. Rickie and Jay Rod, let alone Osvaldo, will have their work cut out to get past him." Read more: thesaintsfc.proboards.com/thread/7880/potters-next#ixzz2jPQDUw2ynice to see that people are starting to notice that young CB we've got.....I reckon he'll turn out to be quite decent when he gets a bit older

"far better squad" my arse. The only thing they have that we don't is a decent striker and a manager who happens to be (imo) a very, very good one. (oh and 60 odd million pounds to spend in one transfer window).I'd say, player for player we have better centre backs, a better goalkeeper and a better winger. The only positions I would have from them are left back, centre midfield and striker.
I would rank them as a similar team to west brom. They have some players capable of taking them to a high level for a period of time (as west brom did a couple of seasons ago).
We are only one good striker off that imo (diouf etc) and I think we would be a better team individually than them with that addition. Whether or not we would be a better team, with better tactics is another matter of course.
One thing they do have on their side is a very balanced team which is capable of breaking quickly with a good work-rate to boot.
It'll be tough, but I firmly believe a team of:
Begovic Cameron huth shawcross pieters Muniesa nzonzi Assaidi ireland arnautovic Crouch
Can put this one to bed. 2-1 stoke.

These cocky bastards think they're going to wipe the floor with us! Hope we turn up the heat and teach them a fucking lesson. They have looked class though, suppose I can understand their over confidence.

They are in the top 6 & are just outside the drop-zone, it's a game they should be targeting to win. Non the less Hughes will want to build on the goalscoring of late whilst getting back to basics at the other end. Supoose a draw is the obvious result but we can win games like this.

They have started very well and look a good side. However, I fancy us for a "turn the corner" performance and result soon and I hope it's tomorrow

Is Southampton in Portsmouth? Ooooooohhhh I think you would receive a T, C or W for that comment!!! Southampton would have you believe they are a posh city next door to Portsmouth, which is a considerably less posh city :-) I live about 30 miles from Southampton and will be travelling on the same train as their supporters, so dont piss them off just yet!!!

Some of them are balanced, few of them are a bit ignorant as to what to expect and others are well wrapped in their current hype.

I've got a mental image of middle aged, bearded men with pipes sitting discussing the match whilst nursing half a real ale.
We should behave more like that.

They look really solid this season but I'm a bit surprised at just how much belief they have in their form being sustainable. Rightly or wrongly many don't envisage Stoke away as being a tough match this season. I suppose results and the table would substantiate their view but having read the thread, I want it to be intimidatingly loud and unpleasant tomorrow and our play to be fast and full of intent! Show the bastards, if they play with feathers, they're gonna get their arses tickled

Fair play to them. They have spent a lot of money and are reaping the rewards. Why wouldn't they expect a result tomorrow? From our perspective, I have no idea what team will turn up tomorrow. Will it be a the attacking, but ultimately defensively naive side against Birmingham, or the cagey, scared team we have seen during the start of the season.
As long as I see a a disciplined defence, players marking their man, adventure going forward, with a crowd getting behind the team, I will know we are on the right track.
I for one, will be getting behind the team from the onset!
Will you? Or will you be hiding behind the old excuse of, 'I will cheer, when the team give me the reason too.
Let's not be like the rest !
Come on Stoke!

Saints fan in peace, I wouldn't read to much into our forums, most fans are realistic and happy to be safe this season, however have been on an amazing journey last few years. Posh city bollocks , we are a dockers town with some nice parts and some complete dumps. Looking forward to a good game we are playing very well and like most saints fans expect it to end at some point. I have a feeling we might get a bit of backlash from your team and fans today, but if we can hold out to last twenty the fitness levels in the team might show. Good luck after today
