Not too fussed on the GK.
The rest should be the strongest ten.

Yes.
Tommy's been poor for a while.

After Sorro's performance on Tuesday, I think I would. We can't afford to field anything less than our best against Man Utd if we want to progress.

yes!!!
normally I wouldn't but the simple fact is that a cup run is badly needed at the moment to get the confidence of the team up.
I can see why most Prem teams put out their second string sides in cup games but for a team like ours at the moment then winning is a habit we HAVE to get into and therefore i'd say to hell with playing our normal subs for these games and go for a proper, strong side and Bego is our best keeper end of!
not as if he's going to get knackered and therefore be exhausted for the next Prem game, keepers don't feel fatigue in the same way a centre mid player would.

After Sorro's performance on Tuesday, I think I would. We can't afford to field anything less than our best against Man Utd if we want to progress. Tommy got us all the way to Wembley in 2011 - BUT - that was with a more solid Back 4 infront of him. Bego has proved to be the ultimate "last line of defence" on a few occasions this season and I would like to think that the line-up v Man U for that game will be more like a Premier League line-up.

I'd say it's too early to decide. Quarters will be played on 17/18 Dec. I'd wait to see where we are in the league at the end of November before thinking about that.

No. I agree Bego is a better keeper, but we need to keep Sorro happy too. I don't think he is that much worse and anyone can have a bad day.

I suspect how we approach this game is going to depend a lot on our results between now and xmas.
Put a decent run together and we can throw all available resources at this tie, if we find ourselves in the bottom 3 going in this match it may be seen as something of a distraction as we approach the busy xmas and new year period.

If we want to reach the S/F, we must play our strongest side, even if the Shit play a weakened side,it will still be full of International players.

No, that would be unfair.
Teams have to have two keepers, Soro's got to be kept sweet somehow.

Sorry Tommy, but Bego has to be first choice. The semi's beckon, and we have to beat The Shit, it's been too long now.

Hughes has already made a point that he is taking the cups seriously. This has the potential to be one of the biggest nights in our history, and I expect him to pick his strongest possible team.
Tommy was brilliant for us a few years ago, but over the past couple of years he has played in games against relatively weak opponents, and hasn't exactly excelled, so he hasn't earned a promotion to play against a dangerous opponent in a vital match.

Tommy would be pissed right off if he's replaced for cup games.

Tommy would be pissed right off if he's replaced for cup games. What's more important though- that Stoke City have the best possible chance of progressing to a semi-final, or we avoid hurting the feelings of a man who probably won't be here next year anyway? Tommy's been a great servant to us over the years, but he gets paid handsomely whether he plays or not, has had a great career, and we shouldn't be picking teams on sentiment.

Absolutely 100% yes, this a big chance to win a trophy, more so than in 2011 for me as teams don't seem to take it as seriously.
Tommy is a Stoke legend but he's 37 and he has been parrying shots to strikers for 3 years now, we need our best players for this tie.

Not too fussed on the GK. The rest should be the strongest ten. Dont understand this at all. I'd say the difference between Bego/Sorro is far far more than the difference between Whelan/Wilson or Pieters/Muniesa or Wilko/Cameron. If we want to progress we have to play our strongest team with a FEW minor changes. Bego should start

Bego has to play if we have any chance of reaching the next round, Tommy is not at the standard that he used to be.

Love Tommo, but I love Stoke even more. What is best for the club as to supersede the feeling of ANY player. As has already been mentioned, Tommo is showing signs of waning ability. Looked at another way, what if we did manage to overcome Utd, and actually get to Wembley, what then, would we still have to consider Tommos feelings at the risk of losing a cup win, even if we knew with Bego in goal we'd stand a better chance of winning?

Begovic is the better keeper, and he should play.

Yes, even if we weren't playing Manure, he was very weak on Tuesday. I love the guy, but if it were me in charge that would be his last game for the club - he simply isn't what he was two years ago.
