Going on the logic that all the players will be fired up and would want to face the shit in December, could this spur them on to start a decent run (until May ) ? Jokes aside though, starting against Southampton this weekend, I personally reckon it will see us start to climb up the league

History is about to repeat itself. QF win v Manchester United, SF win v West Ham and a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley. Sorry to be a party pooper, but we beat Bristol Rovers in the 1972 Quarter Final. Man Utd was the 4th Round. Went that game, the Bristol ale was the shittest I've ever tasted.

I went that game and spent most of the game in their end with my mates, very hairy time to say the least, not daring to speak. The train was bricked on leaving Bristol, our motor broke down going Southport for first match and spent most of the night stuck in Wigan, happy days!

Am I right in thinking that Stoke ,The Shit AND The Football League (as they all get a cut) have to agree the ticket prices?

Ignoring the home/away reversal (as next week's lottery winner did himself), there were 28 possible ties. So there was a 1 in 28 chance of being correct in his first selection (and as he was correct) a 1 in 15 chance of bring correct in his second selection (and as he was correct) a 1 in 6 chance of bring correct in his third selection (and obviously he wasn't going to get the last selection wrong, given the dear fellow got the other 3 correct) So I believe ... given my schooling, as detailed above ... there was a 0.04% chance of correctly forecasting all 4 ties when Mr Hhhhhhhancock set off on his endevour. (because I think one multiplies each chance ... after each pick ... but again, see my schooling) To put that into context, Our Friend In The Homburg would be able to pick the winner of a horse race with 2500 runners. (like I say, I'll be following his tips) Please feel free to shoot me down, I'm used to it ... Oh and yes, just in case Mr Dense is reading (or at least, having this read to him) ... "Eye must apollogize to the staf at Stupidly Thick's School Fore Boys ... Yes I should have paid attention, no I know longer fink skiving up 'Castle gets me a better educashun, no I cant return the bell we melted it down".Did he pick the right matches in the same order then? If Mystic Hancock "only" picked the ties, then he could correctly have picked 4 of the 28 possible ties, then 3 of 15, 2 of 6. If this is right the odds change to 1 in 7, 1 in 5 and 1 in 3. Still a 105/1 shot As above, I stand to be corrected

A couple of seasons ago, we drew Liverpool away in the FA Cup and they insisted on setting the ticket price at something expensive, North of £40 I think. The club then subsidised the cost of the away tickets for the tie so that they only cost £20 for Stoke supporters.
I bring this up because I'm wondering if the club and the opposition could agree to ticket prices at some stupid category A* super premier price of £40+, only for the club to then 'subsidise' home tickets so they cost £15. I suppose they'd still have to pay a little to Man Utd, but would that be even remotely within the rules?

If the clubs agree a price of, say, £40 and the club agreed to subsidise the price for the home fans by £20, then Man Utd would have to have half the takings (after the normal 10% deduction for expenses) and that half of the net takings would have to be calculated AS IF THE FULL PRICE (£40)WAS PAID BY ALL ADULT HOME AND AWAY FANS.

Alternatively, the club could bank on the home ends getting topped up in all areas by their supporters and just charge everyone £50.

Still a 105/1 shot As above, I stand to be corrected I don't know! But I'll tell you what I do know, with 100% certainty ... Either I am right You are right Or both of us are wrong (defo) For the almighty's first selection there was a 1 in 28 chance of picking two teams correctly; but not necessarily in the right home and away order and not including his Mystic-Megness having to make his selection correspond to the first two teams actually plucked out of the hat. I have no idea how you'd even begin to work out the odds of him picking the correct home and away teams AND his "guesses" (obviously they aren't!!) also being in the correct order. If he had done that ... Well I'd already be building the first Place Of Worship To The Hancock Hmmm ... actually ... There was a 1 in 8 chance of him correctly "guessing" the first team out of the hat. Then a 1 in 7 chance of getting the second team. 1 in 6 for the third team (home team, second tie) 1 in 5 1 in 4 (home team third tie) 1 in 3 1 in 2 1 in 1 (no choices left) If you look at it that way, correctly predicting the whole shooting match would - maaaaaaaaaybe - have been 1 in 40320 (that's a LOT of horses in a race!) - But he didn't do that ... and my head hurts now. Anyway, Manure at our place, under lights and on the telly ... I really (really, really) miss going to games like this - Hope everyone has a blast (I will, at least, get a stream to watch!) Can I also point out, even at this early stage ... Being a gloryhunting Stoke supporter is in danger of becoming too expensive. I've only just finished paying off the loan for our last trip to Wembley. Sort it out, Stoke, FFS!!
