We'd easily be top half, proves what spending money on a decent striker can do, eg. lukkaku at west brom and everton

Any prolific striker joining the club, would see us in the top 10
1, (and most importantly) we need to identify such a player 2. We need to be an attractive enough football club to get them to sign for us 3. We need have the finances to buy such a player and also to afford the wages.
Tall order but it can be done

Exactly the reason they play for top clubs.

Berbatov is available on a free in the summer. He's getting on a bit now though.

The reason we struggle in signing them is simple......wages!

I'm sure there are 19 other teams in the league wondering how different their season could be if they'd got another key player in. Unfortunately, we didnt. Main thing is to find out why we didn't. That is where there's going to be so many interlinked and underlying issues that.
I know this could be a bit drastic, but say if we got the opportunity to get a class striker in but couldn't due to the salary restrictions, would you pay up Crouch/Jones/Palacios/N.E Other to be able to do so? That money would then be classed as severance and not be allocated to the wage bill.

Is Demba Ba injured or simply not picked by Chelsea at the moment?

With our current wage structure, we need to either find a bargain from abroad (like Swansea did with Michu), or get an promising youngster from one of the top clubs (like West Brom and Everton did with Lukaku).

I think we're a goalscorer and a holding midfielder short of a damn good side. The only problem is, that those two types of players are the hardest to find.
If we could somehow add Demba Ba and Youssouf Mulumbu to the squad, then we'd be laughing. The fact that, those two would be extremely unlikely/impossible, I think highlights my initial point.
Maybe Muniesa and Diouf could offer the same as those two?
