A question for the old uns
Back in the 70s the Stoke team used to do preseason down in south of France and sometimes stay on the Yacht of millionaire Stoke fan in Cannes or somewhere like that, does anyone know his name and is he still around?

Yes it was Fred Tinsley, who was a friend of the board and used to come up to watch the odd match, match, each season. Don't know what happened to him, though.

I remember a tele programme in the 70s about some fairly well off bloke, who drove over from Austria or Switzerland for some Stoke home games. Could it be the same bloke, or did i dream it?

I've got a few million...unfortunate I've ly it's in Thai baht. Pu Ying love you Mach Mach sexy man..... I've got a couple of those "flashing willy men in shades" toys on a shelf in my living room. I bought them on a whim whilst strolling through Walking St. last year. Paid about 300bt I think.. the bloke would barely move on price. An hour later on 2nd road they were selling for 200bt opening price..bastard!! I think the toys lasted about an hour before the girls had pulled them to pieces. Normal behaviour..take them away to show their friends, mess around with it, pulling it, tugging it, sticking it in dark places it should not be & then bring it back, mangled and battered to fuck.."it not work Mister..batterly no power, jing, jing". Yeah right, it's like giving a 3yr old a scalextric set, you just know they are going to break everything they fucking touch!! At least Thai girls can suck on a lolly without it dribbling down their chin (allegedly).

That's right there was a programme on TV that's this fellow drove from France to watch Stoke. He used fix up games against Monaco and Nice and others, and stayed on his Yacht.

It wasn't just a "Millionaires yacht" it was originally "Errol Flynn's" yacht. I remember my Dad telling me about Freddy Tinsley, being a bit of a rogue. They served together in North Africa, both Sergeant's in the Staffordshire Yeomanry, 6th Cavalry Brigade, later the 8th Armoured.... Bit about the yacht here... www.fr2day.com/chill/the_haunted_yacht_of_villefranche

I've seen Guernsey Dave's yacht, but can't comment on the size of his wad.

The lawyers, who were owed a large sum of money thanks to their wrangling, finally reached an agreement in 1965 to consign her to English millionaire playboy Freddie Tinsley, who swore he could sell her in France. However, once he arrived, he stripped the Zaca of everything he could, and then abandoned her at Bernard Voisin's boatyard in Villefranche. Roguemore with picslink
