i was there, me and my father where some of the first into the ground and we pitched ourselves right at the front, trouble was when richo scored and the whole stand lept in the air we all came down 2 feet further forward than we started, this caused the single steel rail on top of the wall to give way and about 20 of us spilled out onto the touchline, still remember the idiot plod trying to get us to go back in and my old man telling him bollocks, we ended up in a small terrace at the side which had been kept empty for crowd control now that would be a clique for the outcasts to sign in

I was there and until recently had a piece of their turf to prove it! I Kept it in a box with my old programmes and used to get it out occasionally. Recall going onto the pitch at the final whistle and seem to remember Stoke fans digging up half of the pitch for souvenirs. I think I might have the programme somewhere as well. A truly great great day out!!

Present and correct, Sir Nick, along with our Tone. That was, without doubt, one of the finest father and son moments of all time for us. I expect the Leicester game to be in similar vein but add another four to the equation this time....my four grandsons. Oooooh, I could kiss Pooolis. OS.

I was there, got a train on my own from portsmouth up via London, Millwall fans on the train going to leicester broke some Stkoies fingers in the private 2 coaches for the southern supporters. Somehow bumped into my old school pals in the middle of the away end, final whistle i was climbing into the main stand and Alan Durban pushed me down, i forgave him - the twat Gota £30 fine for being AWOL when i got back, wasn't supposed to leave the local port as the ship was on 4 hour standby

I was there.
I won't be there this time (on account of being a few thousand clicks south of Crowey). To those that are in Colchester, I hope the lads can make it a day to remember like Nottingham '79 was for us.

Yes i was there! The best mental ever when Richardson scored. When the final whistle went everybody was jumping up and down and i remember bumping into quite a few people that i'd seen at college that i didn't even know supported Stoke. Got to be the best football supporting day of my life! ;D

Yep I was there.
Main memories the journey there on the train sharing cans.
Sunderland going one down (happiness) then leveling (slight panic setting in) when they took the lead (Nooooooooo). The relief when we scored was immense although I always seem to remember the goal seemed to be in slow motion one of those frozen in time moments followed by the biggest mental Stokies have ever seen. Being away from home probably made it better due to the camaraderie of away Stokies.
The final few minutes were never ending.

I was there, along with mum, dad, brother and my nan, who is no longer with us. Was a fantastic day, the thought of it always brings a smile to my face. Nan had smuggled some sparkling wine in with her (Pomagne, or somthing equally as expensive!), and we've still got the cork from the bottle. Also remember walking round Nottingham looking for the car, cos in the excitement, we completely forgot where it had been parked. Was a day to live long in the memory of everyone there. Just hope and pray that my sons, 19, 15 and 9 have that same experience this weekend or next - unfortunately will only be at Colchester in spirit and listening to Nige. Give em a shout for me!!

I was there, age 12, but at the other end of the ground in the paddock opposite the main stand (my dad didn't like taking me in with the big away followings in those days!). We weren't alone though, when we scored everybody went up around us.

I was there.
When Richardson scored, I leapt in the air and was grabbed by this huge bearded bloke who proceeded to dance me round the terrace.
I don't think my feet touched the ground until the final whistle.

I was there - aged 18 - ever so slightly drunk. Can't remember a thing about the game. I remember jumping onto the pitch at the end. I remember the car journey back home - spent the whole time sitting outside the car window. Back to the "Black Friar" in Newcastle for more drinks - then ran into to some Man U fans outside Steve's fish bar
Best day of my life...

Yup, fantastic day, was stood right on the half way line opposite the dug outs. As Davef said when we scored the whole of the stand we were in went mental. Also dug out some turf and when at home planted it in the garden, so there is still some of the '79 pitch in me old mans back garden to this day ;D

I was there with my old man and uncle. Arrived at 11am to make sure we would get in, a couple of passing coppers laughed at us for getting there so early, soon stopped when we told them how many stokies were on their way....and then a huge removal van pulled up and about 50 lads got out... fantastic day out.javascript:add(%22%20;D%22)

Yep, proud to say I was there at Notts Co. in '79 and also in '62 , when promo was confirmed against Luton (I think!) Spent the whole afternoon with one ear pressed against a crackly transistor radio listing to the Blunderland (at Wrexham?) and Chelski updates. Like most other Stokies, tore up a piece of turf, which to this day still forms 4 square inches of my back lawn - although I've moved house twice since '79! Got stopped by the law in central Nottingham after the game for continuously tooting my Mini's car horn and 'disturbing the peace!! (yes, it's always been like that with our boys in blue!) Third time lucky come 4th May..........................?
