You're playing in the spiritual home of football right now Asmir, Stoke-on-Trent!

I wonder if he would become frustrated if he didn't agree with the valuation we put on him when push comes to shove

The world will be watching so if he stars in the World Cup it will put millions on his price tag.....if he makes a few cock ups no one will want him

I'm amazed we kept him this summer.
You'd think he's got to go next summer if we want top dollar, with 2 yrs left on his deal come the end of the season
Good luck to him, as long as he doesn't go to Arsenal. He's too good to play out the next few years with us.

Fair enough he has the talent to be in the Champions League and if he moves to a top club I'll wish him well. Clearly he'll not be able to achieve what his talent deserves at Stoke and I think any fair minded fan accepts this.

Who does he think he is .."having a good relationship with the Chairmen" and "sitting down with him to discuss transfers"? In my day, everyone was shit scared of the Chairmen, including most managers. Now, we have players on first name terms dictating their own futures...the world's gone mad!! Jimmy Hill has a lot to answer for! Does he really have 2.5 years left to run on his current contract. So, we could keep him for 2014-15 and sell him then in his last year (Summer 2015) for a shit load of money. Sorted.

He'd be worth nothing in his last year.... I agree that his value will reduce significantly if he enters the final season of his contract & he is still playing for us. There is clearly a date by which he will have maximum value. I don't think that date is 2yrs before his contract expires. I think if we sell him when he has a year left on his contract we would still get decent money for him. Obviously, you run the risk of potential buyers being prepared to wait for his contract to run down but is that a sensible option for any buying club? Far better, to get in there early and get the man you want rather than get involved in a mad scramble when he is out of contract.

Bego's stock will go up this season, no question, we've done well to hold on until the World Cup (I can't see him leaving in January). Reckon whoever gets him will have to pay 15 + now, a lot of cash for a keeper that. Out of our top clubs my money'd be on Chelsea now. Start of the season I'd have said arsenal but I think they're probably okay. Chelsea or abroad. Brazil, spiritual home of football?? Pah

well it better be higher than the 12 mill. being bandied around. I'd only deem 12 acceptable if it was to Spurs after Arsenal had offered 13.

We all know he will go, but the big point is to get a decent fee for him! Less than £15M will be ridiculous!

We still have Tommo, a very good goalie in his own right. If the right money is offered in January, we should take it, and bring in players in the other positions we're crying out for. I'd hate to see him go, but obviously he is going, so lets get top penny for him now. Butland looks good enough to back Tommo up, so goalie wise we wouldn't be too bad, providing we have others doing the business at the other end of the field.IMHO. Bego won't let many goals in, but if he only concedes one, it's usually enough to see us beaten because we can't reply. He won't keep us up on his own, regardless of how good he is, whereas bringing in three or four players with the money we get for him, might.

To be honest I'm really impressed that the club has managed to keep him for this season - it surely would have been very easy to sell him for £10m+ this summer.
I think it is the right time to sell him after the World Cup. Providing he continues the form he is in, he will show he is a consistently outstanding performer in top flight football, and that he can do it at the top level in the World Cup. You could not have a better time to inflate the value of a player - could see £18m+ if more than one Champions League club want him.

I don't really care if he does go, he deserves his chance, 12-16 mil I would say.
As for Butland, has anyone seen how good he has been at Barnsley?? absolutely sensational, id be more than happy to see him as number 1.

Where will he go?
Arsenal seem happy with the Pole. Chelsea have two excellent 'keepers on their books. Man Yoo seem more than happy with De Gea. Spurs have Lloris. Will Man City really replace Hart? I don't think they will and the money we'd want for Bego is a lot for competition. Liverpool have just signed Mignolet and still have Reina on their books, I just can't see it.
And then we go abroad.
Bayern have what's his name who they are very happy with. Dortmund's 'keeper looks a bit dodgy to me, I wouldn't have a clue if they want to replace him though.
I have no idea about the rest of the German clubs either.
Barcelona-need a 'keeper. Is Bego good enough with his feet? Real- may need a 'keeper. Was Ancelloti interested in him when he was at Chelsea? It depends on how long they're willing to stick with Lopez (I think he's very good). And how long Casillas is willing to stay there.
No one else in Spain could afford him.
Do Monaco or PSG need a 'keeper? I have no idea.
And the same goes for the big Italian clubs, I haven't got the foggiest.

Bego sounds like he's made up his mind to stay with us until the end of the season, which makes sense. The last thing he'd want is to jeopardize his place in the Bosnia team by moving to a top club and sitting on the bench.

The last thing he'd want is to jeopardize his place in the Bosnia team by moving to a top club and sitting on the bench. Great news for us and for Jack Butland who may be ready to move into our first team next season. At one extreme, Bego may want to stay should we manage to get a place in Europe next season At the other, Butland will have had plenty of experience in the Championship should we go down More confident of staying up than making Europe at this moment in time.
