Being a regular home and away this year i dont get much chance to listen to the live commentary on radio stoke. Just wondering if ay regular listener could tell me when stoke have been more successful?? When Dennis smith was alongside John Acres and nige or when mick Cullerton was. Also, which ine do you prefer and why??

i think that you should include Gleghorn because i think we have played really well when he has been commentating.

Smith is passinate about Stoke and sounds like a Stokie, so he gets my vote. I must say though that John Acres is also very good and clearly has a soft spot for Stoke if he supports someone else.

For commentary Denis is far to biased towards us, bless him. Acres is okay to be fair, Cullerton probably tells it has it is even tho' I find him a little annnoying. Gleggers was okay but again a little to one sided

Cullerton is good, does his homework, and gives a more in depth insight into the game than Denis.

Gleghorn for me, knows the modern game more than any of the others and is more tactically aware about whats going on.
Smith is just the clubs puppet these days far too interested in being paid for corporate activities by Stoke and therefore doesnt tell it like it is.

Gleghorn is a surprisingly good co-commentator and for the regular co-commentary spot he would be my choice. But, for the next two games, if I were Radio Stoke I'd be going with Nigel and Smithy as the men to cover the last quarter of both games. Both are Stoke legends from the top drawer and both deserve to be sharing the mic when/if promotion is confirmed. I'd have Acres, Gleghorn and Cullerton there though to take part in the post match airtime celebrations because all three are good at their jobs and have given exiles like me a lot of good memories in recent years.

Denis Smith is on radio Stoke because of what he did 30 or more years ago. Nigel Gleghorn is also there because he played for Stoke. Mick Cullerton knows his stuff and puts it over well. I see nothing wrong with his accent. His voice is not exactly cultured but it is clear. The other two are of similar ilk, but Cullerton is the most articulate and knowledgeable of the three.

I think Mumbling Mick has covered more games than Denis so statistically he's probably seen more wins but it doesn't feel like that - I get the feeling we've won every game that Denis has commentated on, whether we have or not! For me... Cullerton is awful. Constant negative mumbling and is in Sybil Fawlty class for stating the bleeding obvious. Denis is always positive and wears his heart on his red and white sleeves - which this season has been just the ticket! Gleghorn is OK but doesn't get excited by much. John Acres is very good, actually quite funny sometimes but sounds like a bit of a dictator when he forgets he's being heard on the internet but off air on the radio. Nigel's Nigel - always enjoyable. The bloke who does the Vale summarising is very good - John MacCarthy??
