I've been reading a lot of posts regarding the problem with wages and the need to get rid of some of the high wage earners who are failing to deliver. So who are these High Wage earners ? Crouch possibly ? If we can offload him wouldn't be a bad idea.

Crouch and KJ. 40k a piece easy. With their apparent lack of resale value those figures, when adjusted turn out more like £80k for KJ and £90k for PC. Reality sucks

I know this might be rather daft but with those sort of wages has anyone calculated how much each goal by PC and KJ last season have cost the club in monetary terms?

Mate, I wouldn't go there, honestly There are way too many posters on here ready to jump off the railway bridge by the Brit as it is. A stat like that would be a step too far

Last seasons wage bill was £59m which meant a loan of £30m was needed from Bet365 to balance the books. This years broadcasting revenue is estimated at £60m but with the need to sign a proven striker in January, can't see the wage bill reducing much and Denise's vision of self sufficiency is just a pipe dream. Without decent players coming through the academy this will never happen. But here's hoping.

It's not that easy to just get rid though.
A player is not likely to move for less money, they are more than happy to sit on the bench and cash in.

It's got to be worth paying the fuckers up, just so we can get rid, surely?

It's got to be worth paying the fuckers up, just so we can get rid, surely? Nah, make them rot in the reserves or don't bother training them instead. Or even better, make them train with the youth team and then when they don't turn up, fine them. If you pay one player out then your setting precedent for future disgruntled players to demand the same.

It is fairly obvious who the higher wage earning flops are.
Huth and Ryan signed contracts that placed them amongst the higher earners, maybe parity or more (who knows) but the high earners that we needed to offload to free up wages were Crouch, KJ, Adam and Palacios, not to mention the likes of Kightly and Jerome who were on mega money for doing not much.
Hull wanted Palacios for 1.5m and Wilson even put his house up for sale thinking a move would happen. For whatever reason, most likely that Hull wanted us to subsidise his wage demands, it didn't happen.
Nobody seemingly wanted the others, hence we are stuck with the best part of 150-180k per week worth of wage earners that, in truth, are absolutely useless.

its a problem at every club, not just stoke city. if you look at every prem squad you will see players in the squad who are nowhere near the first x1 yet continue to pick up high wages. and that goes from arsenal to hull

Stoke have clearly changed their transfer policy and I'm sure we won't see a signing like Crouch again (older player, large transfee fee, high wages).

Not sure mate but wouldn't we know of any starlets with genuine hope of a PL career. It's early days for the academy but, as I said earlier, here's hoping.

Would prefer to see an academy lad come on with 15 mins to go and runs his nuts off rather than watch KJ or PC stroll through the game like they cant be arsed That was my thinking as well to be fair...the plusses far outweigh the minuses I reckon.......exposure to first team football, confidence building, a point to prove, genuine visible evidence that progress is being made thru the academy, there many more positives and as the adage gos if he's good enough he'll make it (or whatever the adage is )
