id just like to say that i dont think glory hunters is the right term by any stretch of the imagination. We are not talking about a load of people who have randomely started supporting stoke because they are fashionable or likely to go on a trophy streak. Stoke have many many fans. There are most likely a large number (like myself) who go to maybe 7 - 10 games a year and some more who go 3 - 4 times a year. This isnt because they dont love stoke or dont care about the club, its things like location, work commitments, expense, family commitments etc. When a big big game comes up then its obvious people will prioritise it (like myself) and hense we get a decent gate. The closest we will get to Glory hunters is that this is a time when we are likely to gain more new fans but this is for two reasons 1) Nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd 2) People are more likely to bring friends A good example is my sister, i have recently dragged her along because i know that succes this season could get her hooked for life! THis is why Leicester piss me off because they spent a load of cash that wasnt theres and had some glory, got their wrists slapped but kept the new fans because they had their moment in the sun. COme on SToke - Do it for new fans - Do it for our moment in the sun!

and surely glory hunters add to the atmosphere i mean when i go to games and we get 14,000 surely its better to have 24,000 than 14,000

The more the merrier, it's brilliant to see so many shirts when I'm in Castle or Hanley, it really makes you proud. And of course not everyone's demented enough to be a hard core fan, so it's great to see people coming back or going to the Brit for the first time.

Im sorry but I disagree.
You don't have to follow a club that wins trophies to be a glory hunter. A glory hunter is someone who chases glory or success. Now as far as im concerned Stoke have had a successful season (very very sucessful if we go up), hence why these so called fans have started flocking back in droves. They say football fans are fickle and I think that is 100% true. Now I can understand people who cant attend games due to finances or child commitments and thats fair enough, but there are thousands who could attend games and simply choose not to because we arent doing very well at the time. It is these people who annoy me. Its easier to understand if you break it down into two categories -:
1) FANS - People who say they support a club but very rarely attend matches. The matches they do go to tend to be the so called "bigger" games i.e a local derby or a glamour FA cup tie, or in this case a chance of promotion.
2) SUPPORTERS - People who SUPPORT the club through thick and thin. Those who were there on a cold tuesday night watching their team away at Darlington in the mickey mouse trophy. Those who made the 500 mile round trip to go to Plymouth away when their team was bottom of the league. Those who would sweat blood and tears to see their team have a chance at some kind of glory.
I know lads whose life revolves round Stoke City. It is more than just a football club to them it is a way of life. They go everywhere, every home and away match and even the pre season tours to Austria. It is for these lads that im praying we get promoted as they deserve to see the big time having spent thousands of pounds following this football club for years.
Remember a couple of months back when the club did the 2 for 1 tickets for the Southampton and Scunthorpe games. There were Dads in the queue who had brought their sons down (fair enough) but they were wearing Man Utd strips!! This beggars belief in my book. To say I was angry was an understatement!!
They say there is no loyalty in football anymore and as far as im concerned this goes for fans as well as players. Im really glad the club were sensible with the ticketing policy for Colchester and rewarded those that have been loyal and made the effort to support the club all season. If we do go up to the Premiership I hope the club continues this policy and rewards those who have been loyal and not just jumped on the potteries premiership bandwagon.

I see the point.
I used to work with a guy that had a season tickett for years. He didnt have one for the start of last season because he reckoned he couldnt afford it. Fair enough.
Hes back on the band wagon now though and his circumstances are no worse.

My circumstances will be the same next season whatever happens.
so I will still be "Justafan" turning "gloryhunter"
I will go when I can and when I cant, I can't.
Now if I were a single man it would be a season ticket every time (and a job with hours to suit).
I really do hope that the gloryhunters can be converted to "proper Fans" and they are accepted into the Stokie family.
