Just after the walters penalty incident & after ARNAUTOVIC took the freekick in the first half, Ethrington took the corner & he whipped the ball in with his right foot behind the left, ala Ronaldo ... has to be on Showboat next week on S,AM TEST

A Stoke City player criticised for trying to score a goal.
True colours well and truly shown today.

I saw him wasting possession umpteen times with stupid shots from 25 yards. As frustrating as it was to watch him at times, if I was him, I wouldn't pass to any of his useless fucking teammates either and would shoot on sight at every opportunity. He is a shining light amongst a steaming pile of shit.

I saw numerous times where he showed some sublime skill. I also saw numerous times where he took the wrong option or misplaced a pass. One glorious chance in the first half when he got to the by-line on the right, had a simple square ball to Walters on the 6 yard line - even SJW would have struggled to miss - instead he cut it back to no-body. No doubt he's got the ability and great potential, he just needs to look up a bit and add that finishing touch.
Incidentally, wasn't he just offside for his goal? It was a close call but my impression at the time was that he was off.

He is a shining light amongst a steaming pile of shit. Too right - best technique of any Stoke player since Hoekstra. Ireland is on his wavelength and, with more games, they will get better together. Both need a pacey and accomplished finisher ahead of them to give them someone to play off. We do not have one.....

has anyone on here ever played football?? of course he was on side the ball was hooked into the midriff of a defender so was not even a forward pass so his position on the field was irrelevant! If only the odd liner had ever played the game we might get some decent decisions

He is highly skilled and could become our best player given a little time.
The guy tries anything and really doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks.
Only downside is his temperment. He and NZonzi had a bit of a spat today ....

Great bits of skill. Overall we need more from him. It's a long way from where Arna is now, but Ronaldo was a fancy-Dan show pony when he first came to England. Arna needs to learn that the fancy stuff is only good if it leads to something

arnie is a skillfull player. he did the rabona a couple of times, but only once was there a point to it. a lot of his skill seems to be for show. arnie and assaidi seems to be two quick and pacy players with buttloads of flair and talent. if they can both get into the zone this season we have a couple of good wingers on our hands.

Id rather see a player who tries to attack the opposition than just pass sideways & back! & no wonder he's shooting from 25 yards, with the shit he has with him on the wings!

Hey guys! I´m from Austria and been a Bremen fan since ages. That´s were I came across Arnautovic, then he played in our national team... And I became a fan of him too, which lead me to this forums and to watch yesterdays game full length. On the one hand I thought the game would be faster, on the other I didn´t expect it to see so much good football. Stoke played really well, but a not given penalty and Arnautovic´s not given goal (no way that was offside)... I think Arnauto played quite good; and that´s basically what you get from him. He is no striker, he is a decent winger with special moments and flair - nothning more, nothing less. He has a solid shot (second fastest in the Bundesliga last year, was actually measured) and he is fast - was measured with 36 km/h during a sprint in the game once. But if you rely on his goals you´ll play relegation. He will shoot a few goals - eihter from distance, from a free kick or he does something wicked like arsing three players and looping the goalie, with his outer foot, but he usually never goes for an easy solution in front of the goal; he gets nervous and tries something a world class player could try - this sometimes work, but only sometimes, rather then just putting the ball in... He needs a technical fast striker who understands double passing to get the most out of him. But well what you saw yesterday is what you basically get from him, except for his crosses - he was one of the best at the Bundesliga at it, that´s where I realistically see potential of improvement. But well for a player that cheap I don´t think you could get a better winger. And btw I think Assaidi looks very promising... Anyway, will watch the next game

I saw him wasting possession umpteen times with stupid shots from 25 yards. So he should have stopped, turned around, and passed it back to Nzonzi, who could pass it back to Huth, who could pass it to Begovic and we could start all over again, slowly passing it about without shooting until it's absolutely certain we will score a goal. Arnautovic shoots from distance because he has a bloody good shot on him and has great technique. They don't all go in or go on target, that's football, that's sport. However i enjoy him doing so because his options were limited and he's good enough to do it. When i first saw him play for us i thought this lad has talent and can be someone who will get you out of your seat with excitement, with a player like that, especially in a team like ours then there are bound to be moments where he's frustrating. I can accept that until it gets stupid, it ain't got stupid yet. He's trying to score a goal for Stoke City FC. What a pillock eh? Stupid shots? Please

Thought he was the best player on the pitch for us by a country mile. I tried a re-enactment in the pub right after he did this bit of fancy footwork. I nearly fell over!! had a few pints by then though.
Great first touch, good awareness of his team-mates position, and an aura about him. Confidence is a massive factor and i'm sure when he pops his first goal in more will follow.
Better at tracking back than I'd hope for too.

Honestly i think the guy thinks he is much better than he actually is. He has some skill but he needs to occassionally do the basics right. He has some potential and we need him in the team, but he needs to stop thinking hes Ronaldo

We need playerd with his touch. Key is him knowing when to do it to hurt the opposition most. Although, to be honest, bits of skill shouldn't be discouraged.
