Following on from the numerous clapping threads would a memorial garden work at stoke?
Was at the Ricoh today and they have a small little garden where people can scatter ashes leave flowers etc. it was only small, 100 yards from the ground
I imagine some people don't have a special place where they can leave tributes so the deceased favourite club becomes the place.
I have heard that clubs don't like to do it on the pitch

What has happened to the people who support Stoke over the last few weeks? Jesus fucking Christ.
Lets just sell all the players, knock the ground down & build a fucking church so we can all go & share our grief & clap every other Saturday instead.

It's not about sharing grief, it's a little memorial garden

So now, the abuse flows from mentioning the deceased In fact, why the hell did they show live footage of the April Jones funeral today on the BBC? i mean , most of us never knew her. Some people need to show some respect on such a delecate subject, rather than giving abuse. TEST

If you can't tell the difference between a young girl who was murdered by a peado & the THOUSANDS of other deaths today which DIDN'T feature on the news, then you're thicker than I thought. (And as for trying to use something like that to point score, well, that's pathetic) As for what the fuck any of it has got to do with football I don't know. TEST!

Not trying to point score at all, but some people , no matter how old die for many reasons & they would just like to see their loved ones remembered, and if they think that a round of applauseat Stoke is good enough , then let them do it. you don't have to join in.

Good idea....I may lay some flowers there for the loss of the 2012-2013 season.
Such a shame. It had everything to play for.

I've thought for a long time that Sir Stan's statue would be better moved to a more prominent position near to the main entrance of the West Stand or near the ticket office. If that was done then a memorial garden where Sir Stan's staute currently is, dedicated to all Stokies we have loved and lost, would be good.
If, as I rather suspect, cost would block any chance of moving Sir Stan, then there is plenty of room on the grassy area next to Sir Stan's statue for a memorial garden.

Shouldn't we consult Orbs?
On a more serious note, I believe we should have a permanent place to mark the passing of loved ones that were SCFC supporters, as this clapping thing is getting out of hand. It's similar to the fad for giving knighthoods to active sportsmen.
The problem lies with where the line is drawn and I think the club should have the difficult decision to decide which people should be so publicly commemorated.
In my opinion, a well managed memorial garden is a great idea.

Related to this subject - in recent years a fashion has grown up for fell walkers to have their ashes scattered on their favourite fell or mountain. 20 years ago you hardly ever saw ashes on the fells now most of the higher summits have their share of ashes blown by the wind into cervices in the rocks. It was a surprise to me how long those ashes last. They are NOT biodegradable and the white (almost silvery) ash persists for months until dispersed by the wind.
For this reason many walkers (including me) have asked that our ashes are scattered with the wind on the slopes of a favourite fell rather than on the summit.
I mention this, in the hope that any future memorial garden does not become the place to scatter ashes following cremation - it really isn't a good idea in a small space.

They tried something very similar at The Emirates, a sort of shrine and place where you could show your respects to Aaron Ramsey.
Little did they expect him to rise from the dead and so, being forward thinking types, they've turned that into a place where their followers can go and mourn the 3064 days and counting since they last won a trophy.

With a fine view of the incinerator and the A50 - lovely. Cant we use your back garden instead?

Knowing Stoke council, they'd be more willing to create a memorial block of terraced houses.

Personally I want my ashes scattered at the site of the boothen end at the old ground - an ideal spot for someone to put a memorial garden - ashes on the pitch will kill the grass, hence why clubs are not at all keen.

When I go I want someone to put my ashes into a water bomb, fill it with water in the ground and lob it onto the pitch
