Such a shame for all involved that his move to Swansea (who, let's face it, have done significantly better than Stoke in their short time in the top flight) didn't materialise. To quote Tony Pulis following the 3 - 1 defeat at the Liberty:
“You always want to keep your top strikers. I’ll be as open and honest as anybody.
“Kenwyne has never come into my office and said he wants to leave the football club.
“It’s great speculation. If the two clubs are talking then they have to talk and speak to me and then I’ll speak to Kenwyne.
“We are in no financial trouble at this football club.
“We run the club soundly and I’m honest with the players.
“If it comes to a point where we accept an offer from Swansea then it will be down to Kenwyne whether he wants to go on that.
“If he says no, there will be no problems with me.”
There's been talk on here that TP moved the proverbial goalposts when the deal was close to completion. Others say that wage demands brought the deal to an end. Who knows? Hindsight is 20-20, they say - it would have been fantastic for all concerned.
