Today was one of those days, sloppy defending in general, it happens to all teams. I'd also rather it happen away to a team challenging for the league than at home to Norwich next week. That said apart from the set pieces they have created little and i'd say we have had the better second half.
Anyway we are not far off a top 10 team in my opinion.
Marko needs to start from now on instead of Ethers, he adds a bit of pace, confidence and flair, hard game to start today for him. Ireland needs to get fit and needs to replace Adam, he has much more awareness, better touch and equally as good passer. I can even live with Walters as he does a lot of work thats needed in a mid table side.
That said for me the one thing we do need is a goalscorer, in January it should be a priority. Sort that out and we will be top 10, things will only develop and improve as the season goes on.

Also a shout for Cameron who is growing more and more with each game, he could turn out to be a real gem in time to come.
For me it's positive signs, signs we are moving in the right direction.
I'll say it now, we won't lose many games at home this season either.

I disagree with the OP.We have no goal threat,Walters is a championship player and if Hughes persists with the bizarre substituions we saw today we really wont get very far.We also werent great defensively.Stoke beaten by three set pieces?Sorry but I still think we're a long way off but yes we pass it better in midfield(without ever thratening).

Sorry but we are. Now is the time for Les to ring the changes. We don't look like scoring. Something has to change.

Begovic has been outstanding this season and was due an off game. Has Huth got false teeth? Cameron looks really solid and getting better and better. Pieters is settling in and looking better each game. Walters wank as per and offers nothing in attack or defense. Arnie looked lively and chased a lot and isn't afraid to have a go. Adam shocking and looks lost. Wilson is a fair better CM than a LB and his cross's as dire. Palacios looked good and played some good balls. Not going to judge Ireland as he hasn't played for a long time and Jones had a good chance but poor touch but other than that wasn't really that involved. Wasn't expecting anything from the game but there were a lot of positives and passed it around and even had 57% possession at one point. Didn't deserve a 3-1 score line but it was refreshing to see us having ago and at no point were we under intense pressure. We will get better

Subs were decent actually, bizarre to suggest otherwise. Defensively it was a bad game but that happens. It was equally as bad last year. We are playing a side who will likely challenge for the league and left them defending for 45 mins. I do wonder what some fans watch as its laughable.

Well we cant resolve the forward line until January, that said if you can't see how much better we look as a team, the chances we are generally creating then im sorry football is not for you. 3 soft goals today, it happens.

Bizarre? I thought all subs were pretty much right with what was available. Hughes got pretty much everything right today I thought, in no way could he have predicted uncharacteristic cock ups from Bego.

It was always going to be a tough game today and I was encouraged by how we dominated possession at times. We were positive, went at them, but were lacking a cutting edge- which we all know about.
Unfortunately Begovic had a very rare off-day. Every keeper has one or two of those over a season, and today was Bego's. The defence in general were not very well organised at set pieces, but I think it's more of a bad day at the office than symptomatic of any great problem. On the plus side, Cameron put in a great performance at right back- he's really starting to look the part.
In midfield Adam had one of those games when he looks like a Sunday League footballer- he can be a matchwinner at times, but having Ireland pushing for that place looks like a good decision by Hughes. I think the playmaker role is up for grabs now. Wilson was good today, I thought. He kept wanting the ball and was driving forward very well. Mind you, Palacios was decent when he came on as well.
The final third is where we are lacking. I like Jones, but he's not a clinical finisher by any stretch of the imagination. However, we haven't got anyone better than him for the centre forward role, so until January we have to take the rough with the smooth where Kenwyne's concerned. We'll have the "unplayable" days and we'll have the games where not a lot really comes off for him- just the way it goes. What we musn't do is panic and return to Crouch at the fist sign of trouble. We've seen enough of that to know that there's no future in it. Out ide, I really like the look of Arnie. He has a great swagger about him and you can just tell he has the ability in there to cause some damage- we'll see more of him when we're playing the lesser teams.
A mixed day really, but quite a few positives to take out of it. We just have to keep doing what we're doing and we'll win our fair share of games.

Wilson palacios is a defensive midfielder.Sorry but that is a fact. ireland did nothing but give it away when he came on and a couple of crosses that ryan was on the end of would have at least gone close if Crouch had come on. Palacios pushed forwards a bunch of times, generally better than Wilson had done. I think the subs were alright, Adam was having a shocker and replacing him with Ireland was probably worth a pop, even though it turned out after that Ireland didn't do great. As for Crouch, maybe he would have been worth a pop since we looked pretty lightweight in the centre when Kenwyne was off. He's not a long term solution though, it's obvious that we're desperate for the right type of striker. Agudelo sounds like he's the right type, but we need the guarantee of quality :/

To be honest TD, I'm happy for us to have an off day against the likes of the cunts Arse, where we never get owt, than, say, Palace or Hull. Definitely encouraging signs again today
