I'm so so glad we didn't end up with Di Canio. Early days and all that but Hughes looks like being a great appointment. I want to see Sunderland relegated just to see the look on Paulo's face - a bit churlish maybe but the man's a buffoon!

He probably won't be there much longer, if their results continue as they have, and management realise their publicity stunt in appointing him has backfired.

Trouble is though,if Sunderland do get relegated this season Di Canio won't be there to see it. The words "borrowed time" spring to mind

Pulis to replace him This could happen; Tone has a widely respected record of never having been relegated and a team in deep shit, which Sunderlnd will be if they sack Di Canio mid term, will value that record highly. They will think it won't be pretty but it's a price worth paying for survival. But they will be wrong and Pulis's proud record will be gone and Sunderland will be down.

This lunatic has the temerity to call for more discipline in his players while he continually acts like a jumped up angst filled teenager and an embarassment to both himself and also the football club he manages. The sooner he takes Sunderland down THEN fucks off the better.

Hughes was the guy I wanted to replace Tone.
Rafa was probably never a realistic option and I don't believe in managers like Martinez.
The last man I'd want to have charge for my club though is Paolo Di Canio. Nightmare.

On the other hand; he is great entertainment. And he will likely ensure one of the three relegation spots is taken. So not all bad - unless you are a Mackem!

He did manage to keep them up last season and inspired that win at 'the sports direct arena' (snigger) so there is something there, but over a season he's bound to lose the dressing room isn't he?!

I said a few weeks ago that every week it becomes more apparent that with all the tanned frauds wearing nice suits and trendy modern snake oil merchants, we easily appointed the best manager on the market in the summer. For the sake of this thread, I'm also going to include di Canio and the possibility of having brought him in at the tail end of last season as an option.

I had nightmares when we were linked with Di Canio and Poyet.
Big egotistical, fascist, unpredictable, racist nightmares. Scarier than any horror film I ever saw.

Think he will be gone by Christmas. Me too. I can't see them getting rid just yet, as they have backed him in the transfer Market and will give the team time to gell. He should be able to spend Christmas at home with his mama tho.

Di Canio will be sacked by November 8th and a new manager installed just in time for their game on 23rd aagainst us to give them a huge lift and see them fluke their way to their 2nd win of the season to take them out of the relegation zone. They'll then lose their next 3, and only win 1 more before New Year.
Come March, the new manager will be booted out as it turns out he had inappropriate relations with Altidore's dog and Pulis is appointed on an interim basis tasked with keeping them up. Sunderland fans will embrace this new approach of trying to grind out results as they aim for 40 points and claim that they are innovators of a new, no nonsense approach.

God he would unsettle a football club. As for Poyet he's disappeared of the scene since he got sacked

Difference being, in the championship you could sign loanees up to March. Here, if the squad isn't right by the end of January you are doomed. No-one will be able to keep that rabble up - so far from a TP survival team that it wouldn't be possible even for him. And unlikely the board would spend big again to correct Paolo's craziness!

I must say, I can't ever recall witnessing a Premier league manager so clearly out of his depth with the possible exception of Steve Keane and going much further back Ray Harford. It's a bit of a shame as PDC does add a bit of colour to the game and he also kept Sunderland up last season. But being sent to the stand yesterday for a stupid remark just about sums him up for me. I can't see anything for Sunderland other than being rooted to the foot of the table all season.
