I know Radio Stoke looks at this board, therefore a simple request.
Please ensure Sir Nigel Johnson is commentating for the last part of the match on Saturday.
*IF* the dream does come true on Saturday, personally, I only want to hear Nige.
anyone with me on this?

Nigel deserves to be at the mic if/when promotion becomes a certainty. Hope Smithy is the co-commentator as well. Both men are Stoke legends for different reasons.

Yes, absolutely, Nigel Johnson is unsurpassed as a Stoke City commentator, and the best summariser by far is Mick Cullerton. Denis Smith is a Stoke legend, but only on the pitch. Off the pitch is a different story, and the same goes for Gleghorn to a lesser extent. I think Radio Stoke brought in Smith and Gleghorn to help the team by giving a totally biased assessment of the play. In the short term this may be justified but if and when promotion has been achieved, Mick should be back so we can find out what's really going on!

Yes, only his voice describing promotion would be fitting to hear at the end of the show montage!

Aye!
It would be good if Radio Stoke could bring out a CD with all the commentary of our goals this season, would be a really good listen i think! Throw on a recording of Stoke supporters singing Delilah (ideal chance to get a decent copy with the full house against Leicester) and i'm sure it would be a winner!

Nigel Johnson usually takes over halfway through the second half as a rule anyway.

An' fook Acres off for good. Can't stand the bloke. Yes, John, I mean YOU. a tad harsh, i quite like Acres, his heart is in the right place, but i do feel its a job for him, whereas for Sir Nige its a calling, a devotion... ok maybe he does get the names of the teams mixed up, or forgets the players names, or gets flustered.. but he is STOKE.. and for us who listen in far flung places, hes a link with our past.. listening to terrace talk on the way to the Vic... I just want to hear him and Denis, AND Foghorn talk us home to the promised land

I think Acres is the best Radio Stoke have had since Ivan Gaskell - but the honours for a potential promotion have got to go to Nige.

Agree 100%,Acres might just be talking about be coming an Uncle when a crucial goal is scored. When Acres first joined radio Stoke he actually said in an interview something like "Stoke fans were fond of Alan Ball". Then didnt he have a spell talkig about his cats....moving swiftly on to informing us how many pairs of long johns he wears

It's got to be Nige - he deserves it like the rest of us fans for everything we have had to suffer over the years and years of pain and misery. Acres - I think is excellent. There is of course the element that it is only a job to him ( he's a southerner isn't he) Having heard some of his commentary clips though (The Parkin goal at WBA last season comes to mind) I think Stoke and the Potteries is winning him over. I think he may follow Gaskell onwards and upwards eventually.
