If we reached agreement, presumably we'd have to fast-track his permit appeal for Monday?
We could do without Hughesy being in London all day like TP was last time!

The deal can be done and the permit appeal held after the window closes. Of course, if the appeal failed we'd be left having paid out several hundred thousand £s for nothing!

I fail to see how this is desperation.
We simply want a player who the Manager seems to believe can help the cause, and he wants him now,not waiting for January.

I think the reason it comes across as desperation is because.. If we wanted him now 2 weeks ago, we'd probably have him by now, put a bigger offer in and had him here. Instead though, it looks a lot like we've given up with our other targets so we're trying to push this one through early.

Or perhaps again we will not be held to ransom.
Remember when the window closes, the USA interest get nothing.

They're playing at midnight, aren't they?
It'll be interesting to see if he's in the team.
If he is, looks like MLS are still playing hardball.
If he isn't, he'll be on a plane to Manchester shortly hopefully.....

Their playing some decent football I told everyone that last match - people underestimate the quality of the players and the league in the MLS. There can be some terrible games, but there can also be some terrible games in the Championship.

Ironic, by the way, how I have been following Stoke from New England For nearly two decades now...and now there are a bunch of Stokies following my local club

Rowe again very heavily involved in the goal. Should we be considering him as an option? (Too many from the USA may not work however)

Think we have always tried to sign him this window. We just secured the deal when it looked (looks) like there was no progress to be made.
I asked a MLS journo re chances of getting him early & he said very doubtful whilst there were play offs to go for. 8 games left for them?

I certainly don't think it would be desperation to try and get him in before the deadline. Let's be honest, what we are paying (in both fee and wages) is peanuts really.

A third bid of 875,000 will be submitted in the next hour.
Agudelo badly wants to join Stoke immediately as Mark Hughes has told him he'll compete for a starting spot right away. He has been pleading with the MLS to sell him.

I dont think there is a problem he has already signed . he is coming in January when his contract runs out but we want him here now and maybe able to do this by paying a fee hence the 875k.

"Stoke City seem desperate to sign Juan Agudelo in the summer transfer window as they have upped their 750k bid to 875k says a source. The source said MLS received this offer and quickly turned it down, citing that they would let Juan leave early only if a fee over $1 million came through. The transfer window ends Monday and the source is not sure if another bid from Stoke City is expected before then. " I think Stoke will probably just say, "forget it, see you in January Juan."

Surely we can wait, whats the rush we have a good enough squad, why wast 875K. Anyway too many new players bring to fit into a new system is never a good idea!
